hi ofc! so to start off with, Iâm very glad ellen does a tremendous amount of philanthropy for deserving civilians and has helped paved the way for queer people by coming out so publiclyÂ
HOWEVER
she frequently uses her interviews to ask celebrities questions that visibly make them uncomfortable, objectify them, hypersexualize them, etc. from asking very personal questions about sex lives to getting mad at Dakota Johnson for not inviting Ellen to her party (even tho Dakota did), she just doesnât respect boundaries, especially with Harry (always talking about the older women stuff, stunts, etc.), which is disappointing considering she should understand what itâs like to have the world shame you for your sexualityÂ
also I do not support her whole âbe nice to everybodyâ when it was used to defend her hanging out with George Bush. while Iâm sure she has faced homophobia and discrimination in her life for being gay, she is now in a position where institutionalized homophobia or discriminatory policies will not hurt her, so itâs incredibly tasteless to imply that marginalized people should be friends with people actively working to oppress them. you do not owe your oppressors friendship.Â
