My third sculpt for the StoryMasters tales line, Tbe Pirate, is all done. He’s been moulded and will be available soon.
This is my favourite one so far. It’s reassuring to feel like I am improving with each sculpt I complete. It’s a steep learning curve!
Please take a moment to like the Iron Rat Facebook page for further updates. It’s greatly appreciated!
Aargh me hearties! The sculpt for our latest figure for the StoryMasters Tales series, The Pirate (and his parrot), is ready for moulding
The Huntsman, my second sculpt for our line of miniatures for use with the hybrid RPG StoryMasters Tales.

My first sculpt to be complete and put in to production!
This is the Redcap, for the hybrid RPG StoryMasters Tales (but we’d love to see you use her for your character in other tabletop RPG’s!)
Please follow Iron Rat Studios on Facebook (link below) and check out StoryMasters Tales. We’d really appreciate it!

Recently completed Firbolg Druid. 28/32mm kneadatite/Fimo.
It’s been a while but I have been doing some miniature activities recently. I am looking at going into freelance miniature sculpture so I’ve been doing some work to get a portfolio off the ground. I Finished a green I started a long time ago and started this half-orc fighter character.
Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve posted but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy! Amongst other projects, here is a 1790’s Royal Navy midshipman’s coat I have made.
I’ve been busy!
A 1780’s frock coat of beautiful dove grey wool.
The bulk of the coat is now complete and I’m just working on the adornments like these death head buttons.
Shameless self reblog.
I'm afraid I haven't been doing much painting or modelling. I tend to invest a bit more time in reenactment over the summer months!
Just spent a great weekend with the lads of the Society of King George the Third, at the Greenwich Tall Ships Festival. Lots of great photos and I've just found the feature of tumblr that lets you upload bursts as GIFs. Brilliant! Three of us portraying RN ratings and 2 Marines of around 1790.

Just as the grenadiers near completion, an order from Perry Miniatures arrives! I'll leave it as a surprise, for those that don't know the Perry catalogue numbering 😂 Stay tuned.
Back on it. Let me give you an insight into how my friends and I play war games. There is no points system. You build units that you like. You like the history? build it. You like the colour scheme? Build it. You turn up to the game with as many units as you like and as long as they are painted and based you can table them. This makes for an exciting and extremely competitive game, as you never know what you're up against and you might be in for a thrashing if you don't recruit enough troops. Just like a real war! A friend has been posting pictures of his Continental American forces. He takes a photo of the subject but will ALWAYS include a glimpse of something else he's been working on in the background. For example, the other day he said "just finished this mortar" In the background you could just make out some militia (which it later became known to be a newly raised 40 strong line unit) and in the foreground, the carriages of 2 new 8 pounders were visible. This drives the Crown Forces players into a frenzy of production to raise troops. I'm telling you, if you need motivation to paint then you should start playing with propaganda. Anyway, here's my new composite battalion of Hessian grenadiers. There's Von Rall, Von Lossenberg and Von Huyn and I've got 6 more to do as Von Knyphausen. Did a cool little command base with staff from each of the units gathered around a wounded officer. In our games, one infantry figure represents 10 men. Battalions of up to 400 men were not uncommon in the Hessian army.
