The last few days have been interesting for sure. First, I learn of Alvar secretly venturing to the Source, which he claims was out of concern with how certain events have transpired. While I understand his worry and am still not completely satisfied with how things played out, I have since decided that dwelling on those matters will hardly be of importance in the long run. While I may not be in sync with a certain legate in terms of personal rapport, the chain of command is a yoke I ultimately chose myself. And I intend to give my utmost for the coalition until the bitter end if it ultimately boils down to that. On another note, after a short while of self-restraint following the Rhysthane ordeal, I decided to venture once again into the Reach and the Coin. Things seem to have...stabilized with Autumn and such in my absence, or rather there was no mention of such from her lips. Probably better that way...but that’s beside the point. What particularly caught my attention was some of the new ‘faces’ behind the bar. An ooze by the moniker of Borscht and a quaggan whose name seems to be eluding me at this time have since started working for the Coin, and apparently are quite efficient at their job. While Autumn’s cheery, open bartending style still has its charm, I cannot say I would mind getting served up a Hotline by either of their new additions. Meanwhile, I get the sense something particularly troublesome will be stirring in my midst before much longer. In fact, I expect it to. Cannot remain too complacent for long in this turbulent world after all...

8 Phoenix 1330

It certainly has been a while since I last laid my pen to paper. No doubt this journal I meant to use to record my daily-or-so experiences has grown a bit of mold at the edges. However, in spite of all of that, my life, even with a small break from the coalition for my own sake, continues to forge on. First, the formal matters… The siege on Lake Doric has slowly but surely been overcome (if that’s the word for it) and the White Mantle anarchists lie broken and defeated as they deserve. After all, they were reckless with their use of unbound bloodstone magic and appropriation of mursaat war constructs. While this lacks the long-term impact that the smouldering crater once known as Bloodstone Fen will experience for quite a while to come due to their meddling with magics beyond their comprehension, I can only wonder what this foretells for the future. Will the world continue to decay both externally and from within from not only the dragons but also from any foolish factions desperate for power? No matter how dire things may get, however, I know now that I must redouble my resolve and stick true to my Wyld Hunt or else all that everyone has worked towards thus far will surely crumble away… With that aside, I believe it is time for a...confession of sorts. In my time wandering alone, I have begun to form my own ‘guild’, if you will, with the same idea behind units like Destiny’s Edge and Dragon’s Watch. I know I cannot conquer these matters alone...and I never really expected to. Not to mention that as much as my efforts in the Coalition have purpose in themselves, their abilities definitely seem quite stifled as of late. But, that’s besides the point… I believe I should mention, however, that I was introduced to a Noonbloom by the name of Alvar by a fellow prospective guildmate. We grew close rather quickly, and his sociable, doting nature definitely left quite the impression on me. Not to mention his...considerable physique and the fact that he’s a good hugger (if you know what I mean…) Those facts combined with my desire for some degree of companionship alike what Moss seems to have found has resulted in Alvar and I forming a close relationship. Of course I intend to keep matters with him and the guild separate from those with the coalition for a variety of reasons...at least officially. While I am sure he could probably stand effectively by my side, I’d rather brag about him than subject him to the various messes the collective ends up wading into. Partly because of our closeness, yes, but also because I am the one involved with the coalition rather than him and thus it is my duty to try and maintain in the end. In any case, I believe I have mused about for long enough. Hopefully the winds of Phoenix will blow more fairly than Zephyr or Colossus.

09 Zephyr 1330

I finally met up with Ash for her ‘gift’ to me. After a short briefing (and brief preparation) on the shores in Timberline, we dove into the ever-so-slightly cold waters in search of the quaggan village of Okarinoo. However, even though our goals were to avoid the local Krait at all costs, that proved impossible when we stumbled upon them in the midst of a slavery raid. Thankfully, both Ash and I had ample experience fighting underwater so we made quick work of the tyrannous serpents and made sure that a good deal of the quaggan villagers remained safe under our watch.

After the brief tussle with the would-be slavemasters, we set out into the verdant caverns surrounding the settlement. Although my initial desire was to go see the hatchery nearby, Ash decided to guide me deeper into the cavern until we reached a nice secluded font brimming with crisp, refreshing waters. We sat there and chat about a good deal of things, from our socialization efforts to the uneasiness on the horizon. It was such a satisfying conversation that I didn’t need the refreshments that Ash had brought along after all.

Later on, we returned to my abode so I could give Ash her gift from me. Luckily, I had the prerogative to magically preserve the basket ahead of time so that everything would remain completely fresh once she would finally be able to receive it. Additionally, we got into a brief conversation about the magic-filtered well that provides decent drinking water to the abode before the two of us finally parted ways. Of course not before making a promise to do something similar for my awakening day in a few weeks.

If it is anything like this, I definitely cannot wait...

05 Zephyr 1330

The last couple days were fairly quiet, but still somewhat eventful all the same. Firstly, I decided to change my outfit with the new season. Much lighter than my winter coat and less revealing than the mursaat raiments, my current setup also gives a nice refreshing touch to my appearance in spite of the dark colors. Plus I just look good in it…

There was also a community meeting that was quite informative, and Ashling planning out a guided trip to Coddler’s Cove in Timberline. Also, Neeka had a conversation with me regarding a certain action I took, albeit more of an FYI one than anything. (And as for the details of what we chatted about, that will remain between us.)

Oh, and my tavern visits today were also intriguing. Between a half-naked, probably-intoxicated human male in Salma near the Coin to the Bard forgetting about the change of seasons due to the lingering cold, it has certainly been quite an interesting day for both establishments… Hopefully whatever may come for everyone, whether there, in the Coalition, or otherwise, will continue to bring good fortune throughout this new year.

03 Zephyr 1330

At last a new year has been rung in! After such a busy Wintersday season as well as a little uneasiness on the horizon, the season of Zephyr brings a fresh breeze to the equation, one that will hopefully blow away all of the discord coalescing around Tyria. While we may have dragons and political pests still harassing us here and there, perhaps a little optimism and renewed perspective will do us all some good.

That aside, my wintersday gift to Moss seemed to be quite well-received (which is good considering what was necessary in terms of preparation) and the coalition seems as lively as ever. My awakening day is just around the corner, conveniently within a week of Moss’s, so that’s something to look forward to as well. Perhaps I should look into getting yet another gift for that occasion.

In any case, unless something really upsets the balance of Tyria within the next month or so, I’d say things are progressing towards a nice equilibrium in spite of what has passed thus far. Here’s hoping my Hunt doesn’t nudge me one way or another any time soon…
