How Should My Experiment Begin?

"Don’t expect too much from me Stein!" She laughed. "I may turn away, or not participate if I find it….." she paused trying to carefully pick her words, "not to my liking." And what happened on your end?"

Laughing at her response, Stein said “Oh, well then I do hope that we can tune those likings of yours. As for my end, nothing too out of the ordinary; research here, notes there, finishing up some final exams for the students.”

"Is there anything I can help you with? And I think I would rather keep what I like. One of them is really valuable to me." Marie twiddle her thumbs on her lap. Maybe a slight pink hue came across her cheeks.

Stein thought for a moment of the various experiments in his mind. He had been reading up on a theory of a star that helps with soul resonation. “Hm. There is a small experiment I could use help with. It’s a bit of a venture, though. Up to the task?” he asked.

"It depends." Marie looked up. "What do I have to do?"

With a slight smile and on his face and behind his glasses, Stein replied “I’ve never really had someone shadow my work. Probably because most of it isn’t quite to people’s taste. But if you think you’d be okay with my experiments, then I’d love to have you around.”

A little red faced, the professor turned around and pushed his glasses back up to their original position. “Well. Then I guess we’ll just have to push those boundaries to see what you can stomach.” He said with a cynical smile.
