Why Byler endgame is inevitable from a storytelling pov
My byler confidence is off the charts because of the “snowball to avalanche” scene. Because it makes no goddamn sense narratively to show your character having a realisation moment that he has spotted the signals, just to turn around and paint him to be delusional and damned in the end.
It’s Storytelling 101 that if a character has a hunch about something, they are going to have a moment mid story where they question their experience and doubt its concreteness. Only for it to come back at the end and prove the character’s hunch right!
*** Avengers: Endgame Spoiler ***
It’s like how Steve Rogers was able to move Mjolnir a bit (Age of Ultron) and only Thor was able to spot it but ends up brushing it off. ONLY for it come back and give us the iconic Steve moment with Thor going “I KNEW IT!!” (Endgame)
The first spotting: When character gets the hunch
The fake confirmation: character almost believes it to be real
The Dismissal: Characters doubt their judgement
The eventual realisation and reveal: when the character is ultimately proven correct
Byler realisation and reveal 🔜
First post.. kinda nervous!! 😖
the GA really thinks the writers room was this round table where someone pitched "hey you know our main character? yeah i think he should be gay and never experience love, and be an observer to straight couples his whole life. better yet! he should see a queer couple being affectionate so he can long for a life that will never be his." and everyone else at the table clapped and agreed.
Could it be related to THE power outage fic ?

What if they pull a platonic Creelby on us with Byler? That would be such homophobic writing ngl😭
That is not happening lol. Will is in love with Mike and Noah accidentally let it slip that byler was intentionally written to be romantically ambiguous even in s1 and s2. Mike and Will are narratively set up to end up together at the end of the story. They have a clear romantic written relationship and are very different from how the writers have chosen to depict other male friendships like Lucas and Dustin. Mike does not treat his friends, or even El, how he treats Will. He views Will romantically and feels romantically for him. That’s why he said “We’re friends! We’re friends!” twice when no one, especially not Will, implied otherwise. HE views Will as more than a friend, so he projects. It’s the same reason he said “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls” and got increasingly flustered when El said the word “boyfriends” when he tried to create the crazy together moment with her. Mike is in love with Will and has been for the whole story and they will reveal this in vol 2. They are not going to die or have a tragic conclusion. The Duffers love happy endings and they are not stupid, they already made fun of the bury your gays trope in s4 by making two gay boys bury a dead body while giving each other gay ass yearning looks. They are endgame. Trust
I just want it to be over — I was permanently changed

i think the concern about mike “possibly” realizing his romantic feelings for will after will got his powers is directly addressed by how will unlocked said powers.
while it was robin’s self-acceptance speech that will draws from to siphon vecna’s powers, the idea that will can do something against the demogorgons and that he has innate magic inside of him to save the day came from mike.
the predominant realization for mike in that slow-mo reveal is that his own words left a notable impact on will that he is literally being proven correct right before his very eyes.
his thoughts, his observations, his theories, his nerdiness— the qualities he possesses and the passion he displays— inspired will to save his and everyone else’s lives.
mike, and the entirety of his person, holds significant value to will.
will needs mike.
love to mike is synonymous to being needed.
he’s starting to realize that he can have both with him.
and soon mike’s gonna find out that will loves him too.
can’t think of anything else but them these days
