*head in my hands* You don't understand, you can't understand "Bruce brought Jason to the place he died" as merely an action, you have to understand it as a concept. Bruce didn't just brought Jason to a place, a geographical location, the Magdala Valley, Ethiopia, he brought Jason to the exact place where he died: a situation where he followed his parent out of trust and that person betrayed him. Jason didn't just died in "a warehouse in Ethiopia," he died in a warehouse where Sheila led him to and betrayed him, sold him out the Joker. Bruce led him to this exact place too, a place/ a situation where someone he trust betrayed him. Sheila led him to where he'd die, Bruce led him to where he died, it's the same, the same thing.

You still don't get it, do you. Listen, it's not a "--This is where you died." It's a "This is how you died."

Sheila 🤝 Bruce: Betrayed Jason's trust, chose the Joker instead of him, lied to him, led him to where he's die/ died (he still forgave them after that.)

And I just found out that Bruce knows that his mother sold him out to the Joker. Which makes this a hundred times worse. Bruce brought Jason here knowing it. Madness, madness, madness. Jason knows that Bruce knows too and do you think that hit him like a truck.

And this will be the second time this happened to Jason, what do you think he felt when he realized that he've walked right into that trap twice. Not only so, Bruce was there in adift too, and his role was the hero, someone who supposed to come to rescue but failed to. Now, Madgala Valley, Jason saw Bruce shifted from the role of a failed hero, but is still a hero, to the role of the parent who betrayed him. He saw Bruce shift from someone who once played the role that came to rescue him to the role of the one that actively took action to led him to his death. The horror. And Bruce, playing into the role, knowing he's playing into it.

This, Jason? You forgave him after this?

Wrong. Lame. Unoriginal. Operates within a narrow window of possibilities that would frame Jason as either good or evil. And has way too little drama.

Twelve-year-old post-Batman-The-Cult Jason Todd was a suicidal little bitch who tried to jump off the balcony to frame Garzonas for the murder of Robin, hoping to make his passing easier on his family while simultaneously getting that piece of shit in trouble with the Justice League. Garzonas reacted on instinct and tried to catch him. There was a scuffle. The wrong person fell. Then Batman turned up.

Jay, looking above Dick's shoulder at Bruce: *tiny thumb up*

Bruce, smiling: Alfred, you can prepare Dickie's bedroom. He's staying.

He only got mad that Bruce didn't kill the Joker after Jason died. For taking Jason away from Bruce. Then he got mad about being "replaced", which wasn't true, and Jason dropped that resentment after finding out the truth and going through an adjustment period.

That's it.

He knows what went down at the warehouse isn't as cut and dry as to say it was Bruce's fault exclusively. Hell, let's be real, if you wanna assign blame to anybody then do it to Shelia. It's Shelia's fault.

She had the opportunity to let Jason help. He extended her an olive branch of trust and she threw him under the bus to keep her own embezzling scheme hidden. She was also embezzling money from funding for medical care for people in desperate need in a third world country. As a doctor herself. Why do people defend her?

She threw her son's life away, and her own, because she didn't wanna get caught embezzling money.

But no, we still get these bomb-drop panels of Bruce getting sucker punched by "YoU lEt jASOn ToDD dIE!!", then the fandom rallies behind it like moths to a flame as if it's some true fucking thing. As if he didn't have to make a hard choice between saving hundreds of people from being Joker Gassed and taking care of Shelia and the Joker with Jay. As if he didn't beg Jason to wait for him to get back so they could save his mother together. As if Clark didn't haul Bruce away from killing the Joker multiple times afterwards.

As if anyone who wasn't there has any right to criticize Bruce for having a sidekick when most heroes have ones too. Just because those sidekicks have powers doesnt mean they were any less in danger in a fucking BATTLEFIELD.

Donna died. Her husband and child also died. Roy got hooked on drugs when Ollie fucked off across the country for six months and didn't care to call the boy at all, then punched him in the face immediately after learning Roy was an addict and threw him out. He also never apologized for this act, Ollie legitimately thought it was the right thing to do. Hal had to be the one to help Roy out with Dinah, to find him and get him the help he needed. Hal and Dinah. Not Oliver.

Garfield was an afterthought so Steven could marry Rita, and Steven only adopted Gar explicitly because Rita required him to if they were gonna get married. They were a package deal. That was her only request. Because she loves that boy and wanted to give him a real home, a permanent one. When she FUCKING DIES, Steven became an abusive alcoholic and barely tolerated Gar's presence. He only marginally took care of Gar in name only as a legal obligation.

When Gar was acting out because the majority of the found family he lost DIED, Steven was too busy wallowing in his own self pity for losing Rita to care beyond getting pissed that Gar was acting out in the first place, and constantly disregarded Gar as a troublesome burden. They didn't start having a proper father-son relationship and begin patching up all those holes until long after the Titans came back into existence.

I don't wanna hear that Bruce is the only terrible parent figure who "let" his son die in battle. Especially when we know that shit isn't true. So many other sidekicks arguably went through much worse shit than just outright dying, and their mentor figures seemingly get a free pass because y'all motherfuckers like to nitpick. It is especially bullshit writers in the comics love to harp on Bruce's faults and decisions regarding the Robins, Jason especially, to bolster the flimsy enough morality scale increase the characters get from doing so on panel.

Cus I would like to think she takes full advantage of the fact that Bruce is a billionaire and is like “how could you let my son be Robin?” Even though she JUST led Jason into a trap.

So maybe she gets hush money, because she knows Bruce is Batman, and she comes back to Gotham and is just living the life, because of Jason’s loss of life. She’s like fully taking advantage of a Grieving Bruce.

And maybe after a certain point she’s able to manipulate Bruce enough into a romance with him out of their “shared love/grief” of Jason to the point where it’s kinda public.

Oh! And Dick probably is trying so hard to like her but there’s something off, and his hallucinations of Jaybin HATE her, and Alfred is abroad, so maybe he doesn’t know cus I bet he would clock her immediately.

Ok I’m going off the dome, I thought I would open my Docs for this but eh

1.) Red Angel

This one’s on my AO3, it takes place in the Cancer AU for IEUSIR and its of that Jason in college and trying to figure out how to be normal— no capes no fighting. Which is really hard for him because he doesn’t really have a real frame of reference

2.) Rockin Robins

This is in my drive, I just haven’t been motivated enough to regularly think about it, so I haven’t posted what I have for it to AO3 yet. Basically a band AU for the Batfam post IEUSIR because that Jason deserves some fluff after everything. I was thinking of putting a bit of JayKyle in there, but again I haven’t gotten far into that AU

3.) I don’t have a solid title for this one, but I was thinking “Double Edged Sword” or “The Cure”.

This one’s my super toxic Primehood Fic. I have it all mapped out + guidelines for each character’s motivations and emotional process, (which is CRAZY cus usually I don’t map out my fics) but I haven’t actually written more than a paragraph

4.) again I don’t have a title for this one, but it’s a DamiJon right person always wrong time fic where they both have crushes on each other at different points in time, but they never confess (this one has been sitting in my drive for a couple years so idk if I’ll ever get to it)

5) I also started a fic where Jason falls asleep and can talk to people in heaven and the first two chapters are on AO3 but I completely forgot about it (so is it still a WIP? Idk)

Like there is a panel where Jason talks about turning 53 (which would be his real world age given his 80s continuity). Like there are so many small bizarre instances of Jason alluding to his real world characterization and impacts but like done in almost the same way I would expect a seer or conduit might.

Bro basically does a soliloquy to the audience like in a Shakespeare play. Only he doesn’t know there is an audience.

I think it would be super funny if Jason said some meta shit unprompted and it throws Prime off.

Jason: me and Bruce don’t work. Like him admitting he’s wrong would break the universe and that can’t happen.

Prime (squinting his eyes): yeah.. something like that.

Or

Jason: I had a dream that none of this was real. That no matter what I do I don’t have any control. I’m not the one writing my own story. I’m just a character for others amusement.

Prime (doing a double take): the $@&!

Jason: It’s probably nothing.

Prime: it’s definitely something!

And possibly

Prime: that’s what you get for crawling out of your coffin.

Jason: I’m not sure if that’s what happened. It’s all so muddled anymore. Who’s to say what actually brought me back.

Prime (Turing to the reader) you seeing this chat?

And of course

Jason: I feel like people are always hoping my down fall. Like if you put my life in the peoples hands the would vote to kill me off.

Prime: ….
