Millennial Theologian

Today I will read Ch 2 and 3: 'Methodology for Biblical Interpretation' and 'The Old Testament Story'.

I enjoy reading this New Jerusalem translation - the division of John's gospel into four parts with titles and the overview at the beginning is really helpful. For essays we have to quote the NRSV, but my copy is at my house and I really prefer to use printed text as opposed to a Bible app when studying. So, my New Jerusalem high school Bible it is!

I find Biblical studies is always interesting because it's a systematic discipline. It's thorough. It asks you to explain, account for, defend. The Christian scriptures attest to a deep, real, spiritual truth... but the Bible is also literature - a whole library of different types of literature, in fact! And this summer term, the focus is on the Gospel and Letters of John. 🌟

Philosophy: I received some excellent feedback on my Thomas Aquinas essay. I'm still not convinced he should be so idolized and considered so saintly by the institutional church, but hey, what do I know? I'm just an undergrad millennial theologian.

The fact that I am taking and posting all these photos after the event, well, life just leads you to that sometimes. The point is, I will keep going forward while at the same time reflecting on the messiness that life can sometimes be.

Ecclesiology: And we are HALF DONE with the semester! Woooooo! Still have major assessments to write, but it feels good to have come this far. I spent a few hours at a cafe today, sitting outside and reading about Tillard's views of the sacramentality of the church and the key actions - namely love, outreach, and forgiveness - that is what IT MEANS to live one's salvation.
