When you’re actually trying to improve your skills

Obviously there’s some stuff I just don’t know, like the belt for example. I couldn’t for the life of me draw the knot it would be in so I just gave it the cassock-belt-thing treatment.

Also, as I mentioned to beloved mutual Purg, during the viking age magic business was a woman’s job. A ”male priest” would be considered effeminate, and so I included some feminine elements I’ve seen in current day replicas made for historical reenactment. For example the cape buckles with the glass bead necklaces attached to them.

Actually a lot of this is based on my own clothing for historical reenactment.

Some changes for practical use:

Poofier pants, longer wool tunic, and a linen undershirt for insulation. Mittens to keep his fingers from frostbite.

In the original design it just looks like they glued rune amulets on him, so I put most of those runes in the little pouches hanging on his belt. The runes with the beads are the ones for jotunn (giants) and ice/snow.

I also didn’t wanna bother drawing a billion furs so he got a wool cape, also more practical since the pelt of a large animal is much more practical for multiple small capes than one single large one. The only animal I could tell from the furs in his belt was the seal so I kept that.
