the only thing more catastrophic to hit crockett than the oil spill was , obviously , the easter vigil . and the only thing more catastrophic than the easter vigil was the day mildred decided to marry a mainlander and destroyed the hopes and dreams of every young bachelor on the island .

it's been literal years and i still can't stop wondering how the hell john came back to lucidity in a foreign country , in a cave in the middle of the desert , and was able to so quickly get a fake passport , a ticket home , coordinate the shipping of large and mysterious cargo , AND successfully convince an entire touring group that actual john pruitt was urgently taken home and hospitalized without literally anyone looking into the situation

millie's definitely a boring ethical vampire , animal blood only , and john's out there making up morals and justifications as he goes , stuck trying to fool his disapproving wife into believing that he TOTALLY didn't kill and eat anyone last night .

missus millie gunning would Not shut up about the fact that her daughter is a doctor , and yet the second sarah tried to give her mother any sort of medical advice , she was like " oh and so you think you're an expert now huh 🤨 "

one thing i somehow haven't thought of 'til now is small town community culture , and the inherent otherness attributed to those who move into the community versus being born into it . doesn't matter how long your family has lived there , or how deep you've planted your roots -- you're still a come - from - away . how millie's family moved to crockett when she was young , with no existing connection to the island . how long it must have taken to be treated as community members versus visitors .
