It's November again so you know what that means! It's NaNoWriMo time! Yet again, I will attempt to write the first draft of an original novel by the end of the month. That means 50,000 words by Nov. 30, which is 1667 words per day. Unfortunately, I am behind at 730 word for Nov. 1st. I have a weird idea for a plot... or at least concepts of a plot LOL... but not much else. Final word count: 50,638 words... and I'm done a day early. So I wrote a first draft novel for NaNoWriMo, something I haven't accomplished in years. Now comes the hard part... revision! Thank you for everyone who supported me.

Finally broke 40k this morning for my NaNoWriMo word count. That was yesterday's goal. Today's goal is 41,675!

The insanity of NaNoWriMo continued with my goal to write a 50K first draft of a novel by Nov. 30th. Last weekend, I was behind by a lot. Now I'm ahead by a little . . . 33,507 words. I was describing my story to friends today... at some point, my cop ghost story got away from me and now we have a cop, her ghost husband, a paramedic that's also a witch, and a Hellhound puppy trying to stop the coming of the Dragon God to our reality. The Gandalf figure is an old lady running a New Age story that smokes Virginia Slims and wears smoked out Mafia glasses. Yeah, I don't know what happened...

So today we end on a high note... 30,052 words. I am now back on track and no longer behind for NaNoWriMo. I wrote 3601 words today. Once I have that first draft done on Nov. 30th, I can revise it and work on it. But the first step is always writing that first crappy draft.

Today is another milestone day... 30K words is the goal today for NaNoWriMo. I started at 26,451 and in 30 mins., got to 26,970.

I am tired. I am also way behind. The bad news is that I've been coming home from work exhausted so I haven't made my minimum word count once since Monday. The good news is that at least I have written something each day so I'm not too far behind. I started today at 23,471 words. I have to be at 28,339 words today to get caught up. Will I make it? I hope so... I also have off all next week. The only thing keeping me going is that I really like my story and my characters.

Today is a milestone day... break 20k in order to stay on track to hit 50k by Nov. 30th. Right now, I'm at 18,969 words. I also cleaned the closets and the living room today, and still have to cook dinner and email my students for this week. Writing is important to me so I do my best to make the time. It's one of the best lessons writing a novel in November has taught me.

I needed 15K to stay on track with my NaNoWriMo word count. I end the day at 15,084 words. The best part is that I ended the day mid-scene... mid argument actually. My two main characters are about to have an knock-down, dragged out fight. Those are a ton of fun to write. Add to all that a happy hellhound puppy and a mother of one of the characters telling them to watch their language... I'm in for a fun day of writing tomorrow.
