“Lucky,” she sighs, curling her fingers and squeezing them in tightly enough to shield her weak eyes.

As dreadfully as she wishes to admire the sleepless stars that eternally spatter across Asgard’s skies – no matter how bright the day hours, Jane consigns to the shade. She steps into each splash of shadow; taking extra precautions in terms of keeping her face hidden between artificial darkness and her own stringy hair.

“If you had asked me two years ago, perhaps I’d have talked you into the next Convergence, but um…” A few laughing children brush by and trample the hem of her gown. She gasps while clutching the soft fabric that covers most of her chest. Then a forlorn peek is taken back towards the palace. “I don’t really have a home – at least, not in the geographical sense. Never really did.”

[ myrtle doesn’t like children --especially when they interrupt-- but hiding her distaste is easier with the very interesting distraction she’s speaking to. it never occurred to her that she may have painful memories of her birth realm and it is suddenly very clear to the librarian that despite being from midguard, jane has scarce little attachment. good, it will make staying here easier for her. ]

‘Now you do.’

[ she replies in the next breath. if jane’s never had a place to truly call her own before, myrtle will make absolutely certain that changes. asgard’s bright, sure, but it can be beautiful, too. ]

‘Is it impolite of me to ask questions about where you come from? I’ve never been outside the upper realms before.’
