Last Sunday, we had another of those marvelous experiences that are becoming an habit at “A Casa - Oficina Os Infantes”. After Last Internationale played there, we attended two or three shows, but this one, blew our minds again. Tamar Aphek is an Israeli musician with a lot of potential in the alternative musical scene. After her former band Carusella, and a lot of concerts all over the world solo, Beja received at last this wonderful artist. I stood near the band and had the opportunity to take a few shots. The concert was great and in the end, I managed to take home a signed CD that I listened to the all week. Now, let’s wait for the next one.

I know that to keep audiences happy, one should post more often, but as said in previous posts, it isn’t easy for now. At least for the next few years, I’ll keep on with my randomness. This is another so called religion post. Made specifically for a photo contest but ended up liking the shots I got. What I didn’t like was the photo contest results. Having participated in hundreds of competitions, and having seen the outcome photos of this one, ... well, ... better not to go any further in the discussion. I’m into photography for 30 years now and always respected the judges decisions in this subjective art but ... (...) ... enough said (for now). I ended being awarded with the 3rd prize. The chapel of Saint Gens, built in the 16th century on a hilltop, has an amazing view over the plains. Honors Nossa Senhora da Guadalupe and is a popular devotion shrine with an annual pilgrimage on Easter Sunday. A statue is carried to Serpa, where it remains for two days during the festivities and then back to the chapel on a procession. I caught the man in charge for the place, smoking at the sunset. A very nice and educated gentleman. It was my pick for winning the contest. 

After my last post, “ages ago”, I wanted to be more frequent here but that is impossible. No time to do anything. Even if I try really hard, I just can get the job done. Parenting isn’t easy. Nevertheless I got back to my old days in photo competitions and won three prizes in the Ilhavo Photo Contest “Olhos sobre o Mar”. First prize B&W (with one photo of Maria Rita and Cláudia), second prize B&W and a third prize COLOR. Anyway, this year we went to Marbella and once more, almost all my pictures have the same subject. My lovely babygirl. This must be boring for you guys but that’s all there is. Once in a while I post a photo on instagram, so if you’re following me, you’ll be more up to date there. Here’s the link. Each time we go abroad, we realize once more, how marvelous Portugal can be. The beaches, the food and friendly people are so much nicer than anywhere else! And cheaper for all that matter ... Anyway, we stayed the all time in Marbella at the Hotel Finlandia, but we made a few short trips to Ronda and Puerto Banús. In the end all went well. This time, we met a very interesting person. José, the hotel owner. A very friendly guy for a Spanish local, if you know what I mean. He used to photograph professionally but now he’s retired at a young age, running a family business. If you visit Marbella, please take a look at his place. Near the beach, near the old town, well ... near everything and with wonderful accommodations.

“This is my kingdom!”. Yes it is, my little princess.

When I first saw it, I just couldn’t believe it! The Last Internationale were playing in Beja. I knew them from Letterman and had only heard a few songs. This is (as of today) one of my favorite rock bands. The concert and the guys attitude were one of a kind. Delila’s powerful voice echoed through the all room. 100 people were attending. A small crowded place. And thinking that this event was almost dead at first, due to technical difficulties. But then, everything went just fine. The sound quality in the middle of the audience was amazing, even though I preferred more of a “total visual experience”, placing myself in front (50 cm) of the improvised stage. I had to swing over once in a while, trying not to be hit by the bass guitar. Edgey was right on and Gil, the Portuguese drummer did an excellent job too. At the end of the show, the musicians blended with the "common people” and had a few drinks. A great time! Great band!
