“what are you reading?”
“its a…online book.”
“oh cool, what’s it about?”
“….uh….”
I love that everyone just knows
Or…alternately:
“what are you writing?”
“it’s a….story.”
“oh cool, what’s it about?”
“…uh…”
“can i read it?”
“Oooh what are you drawing? Can I see?”
I FEEL THIS on a personal level
no but also “what website is that?”
“you have a tumblr? can i follow you?”
“what kind of blog is ur tumblr?”
World Heritage Post
“So what are you working on right now?”
I feel attacked 😅😂
I mean, I have no shame, I'll tell you, but 1) how badly do you really want to know, and 2) how much time do you have?
hi! can i ask what's ur opinion on giving pets away? not necessarily because u can't afford to care for em anymore but maybe incompatibility of personalities or maybe lifestyles. is it wrong to give ur pet for adoption if u know someone who's better suited for keeping a pet, like emotionally?
This is going to be controversial, but I support making that choice.
There’s a lot of rhetoric lately around how it’s evil and unethical to rehome your pet if you don’t “need to.” And what that does is prioritize human ideology over the actual animal’s well-being.
Pets that aren’t a good match for your home or pets that aren’t really wanted anymore frequently have lower welfare! When caring for an animal becomes a burden or is forced, people end up resenting them, and that means the animal often doesn’t get all of its needs fulfilled. Even if you’re still feeding it and providing appropriate vet care, how likely are you to provide affection or enrichment to an animal you’re tired of being stuck with?
Lifestyle and personality really matter to making sure a pet is a good fit for a home. A dog that alert-barks at every leaf that moves is probably a bad fit for someone who has a chronic migraine syndrome, and they might not know that until the dog has been in the home for weeks and started to open up. A really feisty kitten that requires a ton of play might not do best in the home of someone older who wanted a quiet lap cat. And while you can you do your best to plan to find a compatible animal, you won’t always know ahead of time what issues might arise.
“Forever home” rhetoric is really, really popular and I think it’s very unfair to the animals it is supposed to support. It started with the backlash of seeing animals abandoned inappropriately, and has been heavily reinforced in the public mind because it’s so frequently used to drive fundraising and support for legislation. The whole “forever home” concept communicates to people that getting an animal is an immutable commitment and that if you can’t keep an animal, it is a personal moral failing. It frames human priorities (we think people who get rid of animals are Evil and Bad and should be shunned) as more important than actual welfare needs for individual animals (are they getting the care they need where they are).
Obviously, I don’t support people dumping animals or just getting fad pets they’ll discard immediately, but there’s so many alternate situations that can arise. Even if it’s just “they got a pet and didn’t know what caring for it would take and didn’t want to care for it so they brought it back, how awful” like… okay, I’d like the person to have done more research before they got a pet, but isn’t it better that the animal now has a second chance to go to better home? Knowing what a commitment requires theoretically can be very different than having to actually follow through regularly, and I’d rather see someone maturely acknowledge that having an animal isn’t a good fit than keep it anyway!!
If animals being happy and with all their biological, veterinary, and social needs fulfilled is actually the goal, we need to prioritize their welfare over human opinion. I’d much rather see an animal rehomed responsibly to somewhere it will thrive and be welcomed than see people keep animals they can’t/don’t want to care for out of guilt or shame.
I rehomed my second dog because we were not a good fit, and I’m super happy I did so.
I was not in the right place emotionally or physically to get a puppy when I got him, having just lost my first dog 2 months prior. I did not pay attention to some personality warning signs when I went to see the puppy. I had not done enough research on his breeds and didn’t have the hands-on experience with cattle dogs then that I do now. I was going to school and working, and now had a double herding breed mix that was extremely aloof and independent while living in a second story condo.
I made a mistake in getting this dog. He wasn’t a bad dog. He was bad for *me* to have.
While it turned out for the best for him that I made that mistake (hello mystery and non-sensical auto-immune disorder that was VERY EXPENSIVE until we figured it out a little and that most people would have, rightfully, euthanised him for), it was also the best for *me* when I rehomed to someone who lived on a large property and was wanting a running buddy. Kumo was 5 ½ years old at the time.
I have not for a single day regretted giving him up. It was right for him, and right for me. If I’d continued to keep him, I would have continued mildly resenting him and neither of us deserved that. I did my damndest to make sure his care never suffered, but I wasn’t enjoying any of it.
Dude it is SO FUN and EXCITING to see a reoccurring reader. If you've commented a handful of times on an author's work, I guarantee that they recognize you. You can't imagine how many times I've excitedly informed my friends "the person with the funny cat image commented!" "- anon is back!!!!" and the friends've recognized who I was talking about because I talk about my commenters so often LOL. We love you all!!!
current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.
someone brought a cake analysis robot to feed the cake into to determine the exact ingredients and supposedly it can spit out the exact same cake. and if you're like dude. what. then they're like well if it bothers you you should have made more cake. i'm hungry and i deserve cake. and you're like dude we're at a party.
Three months later you find out that fifty people locked themselves in a room to discuss how much they loved your cake and how they wished you made more. None of them ever told you.
so for the love of god. please tell people you liked their cake and don’t feel embarrassed about it. because then they will make more cake.

Fanfic Writers! (On Average) Do You Capitilize Your Titles?
Yes, and I Use Proper Title Capitilization
Yes, but only the first word
no, my preference is lowercase
ALL CAPS BABY
it changes depending on the story
Is there a right way to Capitilize it?
Yes! Titles use the aptly named Title Case. There are a few accepted style guides in American English, the APA, MLA, and Chicago Style Guides, which can vary slightly on what is deemed "acceptable". On average, the first word is always capitalized, and small prepositions (usually three or four letters long) are not capitalized. Ex. "All Quiet on the Western Front"
Fanfiction largely eschews the traditional style guides, since it's informal writing, which is why there are so many all lowercase titles. Most of my titles are all lowercase, but it was a habit I didn't realize I was doing and not a conscious style choice. That's what prompted me to make a poll! :)

Are you putting out any new lucifer stories soon? Do you know when you will be posting another chapter of the story intended. love your stories, find them very interesting and well written. keep up the good work.
Hey there! I'm so happy you enjoy the fruit of my demons, thanks for letting me know. 🥰🥰
I do have a chapter of Devil May Care that I wrote 2 months ago that I still need to proofread and post.
For Intended, I don't know yet when I'll be able to resume posting. My job has required us all to return to office, and that has effectively killed all creative energy I once had. I'm job searching, but for now, while I know what happens in the story, I am lacking the words to effectively tell it. 😢 I hate it, and I have a few more chapters of the story from where I left off posting, but I didn't want to leave it on a cliffhanger, so believe me when I say it's far better resting where it is for now.
I'll post here and on Twitter when I can resume posting, and if you haven't subscribed to the story, I'd recommend that so you'll get a notification when the next chapter does post!
Thanks so much for reading, and for checking in on me. I do appreciate it!
