Wow I am late to getting to this. Sorry about that. And how to summarize Faith and Fuffy without going into too extended a meta…

I like Faith more than I don’t as a character. I think she and Buffy have legitimately great chemistry, and that she’s funny and one of the more interesting characters. She’s done some pretty unforgivable stuff to Buffy, so if Fuffy doesn’t become canon or Buffy never gets around to fully trusting Faith again, I hold no resentment.

I think the mirror dynamic they have with each other i fascinating because the characters themselves are reading it wrong. Buffy goes between guilt at not always being there for Faith, or else feeling threatened by Faith at her heels as successor to the roles Buffy plays in both her professional and personal life. In reality, Faith isn’t actively trying to take that from buffy, but rather stay in her own ruts of resentment that come to a head in another way.

Faith has this vision of Buffy “born with it all” Summers but she doesn’t really get how Buffy has had to work for pretty much every relationship and stability she’s gotten while still being alienated. For “mirrors” these two are comically bad at reading each other until the chips are down.
