Midnight Circus

Earlier today, Star Empire announced that Lee Sem and Eunji are "graduating" from Nine Muses. Well, clearly they were trying to phrase it nicely. Can you imagine if they suddenly released, "LEE SEM AND EUNJI TO LEAVE NINE MUSES". I'm sure everyone would die of a heart attack. 

Let's be honest, I cried. Sem is one of my bias in the group and I really like Eunji. But then I remembered when they came to Singapore. The last thing Eunji "said" to us MINEs was, "Thank you ♥" which she sort of wrote on the window while she was still in the car.

And Sem, that flawless lady who was kind enough to sign my phone cover even though all I did was just point to my phone cover and handed her a sharpie. Kween Sem will always be remembered. 

To Nine Muses and MINEs, stay strong.

Not a big fan of BEAST but I really like this song. I like Fiction too. 

Basically, not only do I like the song, but I like the MV too. I don't really know the members individually so I can't really comment much about the members but hey, they're all good looking. That's good enough, right?

During Media Psychology class today, my lecturer introduced us to this cool website called Storify. 

Apparently, you can just find for tweets, Facebook posts, YouTube videos, things on google etc. and all you have to do is just drag the content you want into this box and it will automatically appear in your post. Not only that, you can actually just add in descriptions under the picture, video, tweet, video link etc. 

I think it’s really cool and useful. Haven’t really tried it out yet since I only discovered it today but my lecturer said we will be using it often. 

This weekend, Singapore Polytechnic's Symphonic Band will be having their annual Musical Delights at the Esplanade. 

I was a member of the band till early this year when I had to quit due to personal reasons. However, I must say that I really enjoyed my stay with the band. Mr Chiang, the conductor, is a lovely conductor. He's so nice and always smiling, rarely raising his voice when conducting etc.

The band members are really cool people. Even though we all come from different courses, we push aside the differences and work together to create music. I love my section members and I really miss them. 

In December 2012, I was given the chance to perform on my dream stage. I got the chance to perform in the Esplanade and all I can say is, "BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! I'M SO GLAD AND THANKFUL MY DREAM CAME TRUE!" I even teared up a little after the last song and when everyone gave us a standing ovation. As soon as I went back to the dressing room, I just broke down like a baby in a corner. 

I'm sure this year's performance will be no different. The performances will be as amazing as always. I feel a little sad that I can't make it to the performance. I wish them the best and I know they will be the best. 

Hey hey! So I had social media tutorial today! Guess what I learnt today? Ok, the title says it all. Sigh. 

My lecturer showed us viral videos from YouTube and some of them were really funny but there was one that really got my attention (ok, we had to do an activity related to it so I had to pay extra attention to it). 

One of the videos that he got us to watch was this cool one. And my lecturer mentioned that she had a post on her blog on how to make a video viral.

Then I decided to google for her blog and I found it!!

I think it's really useful! So if you're someone who likes posting videos on YouTube/Facebook and you want your video to go viral, I think you should read the post to learn more. 

I was on Twitter earlier today and I saw this article and I felt so pissed.

Firstly, she's being such an embarrassment to Singapore. Her attitude is just I can't say anything because I'm speechless at how rude she is. And the fact that she said she is not proud to be a Singaporean..... Wow..... Just.... Wow. 

Secondly, she claimed that she was, "here for experience" and that she was "not here to win". Then honestly girl, I don't even understand why you decided to join K-Pop Star Hunt. 

I mean, if she didn't want to be there, then she should have just performed badly in the first few episodes or even better, just withdraw from the competition. 

Ok, before I lose my mind, let me just sum it up. I am thankful that she didn't win the competition because I cannot imagine having her in a girl group. I just can't. 

So I had media law and ethics tutorial today and I've learnt so much about copyrights. 

Did you know that only the copyright owner is allowed to:

Reproduce the work

Publish the work

Perform the work in public

Communicate to the public

Make an adaptation of the work 

So that means that it's actually wrong for us to post covers on YouTube. Since we are not the copyright owner, we can't do any of the above. And by making a cover of a song, we are performing the work in public and making an adaptation of the work. Which is wrong. Since we are not the copyright owner. 

And did you know that the Happy Birthday song is also copyrighted? When my lecturer told us that, the whole class was like, "whaaaaaaaaaaaaat". 

So After School has this new show called Beauty Bible on KBS. It’s pretty interesting and I’m sure the ladies would be interested. They share some beauty tips and things like that.

I got a question from a friend today about who my bias in this k-pop industry. Apparently she has been reading my tumblr but is just too shy to submit an ask on tumblr or tweet me. So I thought, why not answer it here?

Alright, let's start with how I even got into this whole k-pop mess. It first started about four years ago when I was in secondary 3. I was only 15 years old when the k-pop craze in my school was just really insane. Almost all the girls in my class had their own bias and I was just the awkward turtle in class because I was clueless about this whole k-pop thing.

So the group that got me hooked up to this k-pop thing was After School (yes, they're like my first love. I fell in love with them at first sight.). My friend kept singing this Amoled song and I was so annoyed with him that I had to check out the video itself to find out why was he so addicted to the song. That was when the nightmare it all started. 

I watched this and instantly got hooked to it. Then I started to google about After School and I just fell in love with each and every one of them. I don't know why but I was very loyal to After School for like two years or so? I bought nearly all their albums, watched every performance they had and even sacrificed time to meet them live when they came to Singapore. 

Then I started to become slightly curious about other groups and I found out about Brown Eyed Girls (BEG). They happened to be making a comeback with Sixth Sense and I was just thanking the heavens for letting me stumble onto this group.

Once again, I fell in love with the four members. (I remember I met someone to collect my Sixth Sense album on the day of my Math O level paper) 

Then it was Girls' Generation. That was when my whole just flipped. I kept asking myself, "WHERE HAVE I BEEN? WHY DID I PREVIOUSLY HATED THIS GROUP OF NINE GORGEOUS LADIES? OMG!!!!"

After Girls' Generation, I started to open up to more groups. I was really interested with Miss A. I started listening to rookies like GLAM, Ailee and Nine Muses (a big thank you to two of my friends who introduced Nine Muses to me). 

 So let me sum up this post. I cannot choose one group. I cannot stay loyal to just one group. 

Here is a list of the groups I love and my bias in each group:

After School (I can't choose a bias. Every time I settle on just one member, another member will mess my bias list up.)

Brown Eyed Girls (Miryo, because I really love rappers)

Alright, so let me introduce to you my awesome and fabulous DJ partner, Gloria. 

Yes, that's Gloria and I. hehehehe

Our radio show is actually about K-Pop and it's called XOXO (please don't ask how we even got that name, it's really embarrassing for me). 

XOXO is on every Wednesday. 2 pm - 4 pm. We talk about the latest k-pop news, gossips, music etc. 

So today, we were having our normal radio show when we were told that we had to cover the Open House. So instead of our having our normal show and doing our own talksets, we had to sort of be a host since there was an ongoing performance during our show slot. 

After the performances, we had to invite a special guest to our show to talk about their experience in SP. Lucky us, we managed to get our classmate, Cynthia, to be on XOXO with us as a special guest. 

Cynthia was just really shy hehehehe.

It’s a new year. WHOOP WHOOP!!!

And as you guys know, a new year means poly open house everywhere and it also means that for some of our young friends, they will have to make the choice of choosing the course and poly that they want.

It’s ok. I know. I’ve been there before. Not knowing what course to choose, which poly to go to, being afraid of new things etc.

That’s why I’m here to share with you my poly life so far.

If you have read my about page, you would have probably found out that I’m a year two student in Singapore Polytechnic’s Media and Communications. Yes, I’m a communications student who loves K-Pop. Hurhur.

Well, let’s start with something that I am dying to share with the world.

I LOVE MY CLASSMATES!! Yes, you read that right. I love them so much. My classmates are the best bunch of people I have ever met. I love how we came from different secondary schools and we all have differences but we push those differences aside and instead, got along with each other.

Let me introduce my super duper awesome classmates to you.

This was taken earlier last year when we had a birthday bash for all the April babies.

Yes, my class is a pretty small class with only 22 of us. Most of the classes in SP have about 20-25 students.

When you're in poly, you get to meet all these people that are totally different from the ones that you usually see in your secondary school. 

Thus in DMC, not only do I get to learn more about my interests, I get to know all these awesome people. So what are you waiting for? 

Oh and to the best class, I love you guys. 

For today's post, I'm gonna be talking about Korea's Beyoncé. Yes, Ailee. 

No idea who Ailee is?? WHAT?? I included her in the list of people that you need to know in the k-pop industry and I even included one of her songs in my recommended playlist for winter. 

Ok, if you still don't know who she is. Here's a lovely picture of her. 

Alright, let's get started with some facts about Ailee.

Debut: February 9, 2012

Ailee made her first appearance on a show called Singer and Trainer on MBC on September 13, 2011. Her performance was just amazing and she surprised everyone with her impressive cover of Halo even though she has not even debuted. 

On 9 Feb 2012, she FINALLY made her debut with Heaven and she won two awards from Cyworld Music Awards ("Song Of The Month" and "Rookie Of The Month") a month after her debut. 

Ailee is well known for her appearances on Immortal Song 2. In one of the episodes, she won Davichi's Haeri by only ONE point. I like them both so no complaints~

Ailee then made a comeback with a debut mini album and her title track was, "I'll Show You". Please check out the whole mini album (it only has six songs but let me assure you, they are worth listening to because Ailee is just so talented that you will never get tired of her voice and songs.)

She didn't stop there. She made a comeback with her second mini album, A's Doll House. The title track was U&I. 

And just recently she decided to wow us all with her latest song, Singing Got Better. Which is as usual, so darn good that you just can't stop replaying the song. 

However, of course, like any other idols, Ailee was involved in a controversy. Late last year, allkpop published a story about Ailee's nude photos. Of course, it was just chaos every where. People were bashing allkpop and everyone was just defending Ailee.

However, her company confirmed that it was her in those pictures and they clarified the situation. It's pretty calm now. 

I just got back from the airport after seeing Nine Muses (again). Today was their last day in Singapore. I'm really disappointed in myself. I should have spent more time with them (since I'm still having term break). But hey it's ok! 

Why? Because I managed to pass to Sera my gift personally (and she even said that she likes it, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HAPPY I WAS ASDFGHJKL), I got autographs from my three bias, Sera, Sem and Hyuna. (I can't pick one so I have four bias in Nine Muses including Erin. I AM SO SORRY!) 

And last but not least, I took a picture with Erin when they first arrived in Singapore (I swear, she's such a fierce rapper on stage but she's such a cutie and a really nice person IRL). Oh!! And not forgetting that Sera uploaded a picture of us on her Twitter (Erin took a picture of us too just now but I'm not sure when she's gonna upload it).

Thank you Nine Muses! SG MINES LOVE YOU!!!
