CORE CRYSTAL

I failed to label the core crystal in the drawing. Partly, I forgot. Other partly, it would be a lot of WIP changey stuff that I'd rather not have to edit later and would be easier to edit if I just rendered it as text rather than in an image.

It's the red crystal on Mia's chest when she's naked. This thing is attached to her. Part of her biology. Part of Sphynx biology. It's a crystal that is connected to her brain and her heart internally, and contains her soul. I named it after what they call them in the Xenoblade series.

Again, this may change. But for the moment, I've determined that these core crystals are exclusive to about half of the Sphynx population. Those that have them are referred to as carbuncle Sphynxes. They can use magic more potently. In exchange, they become more physically frail because the core crystal on the chest is a big vulnerability.

CLOTHES

All of Mia's clothes are comfortable and carefully chosen by her for practicality and looking like a weird nerd librarian.

So we have here a stretchy, white-collared shirt with pinstripes. Her black pants are elastic, with a simple drawstring. They have side pockets that I forgot to draw, but would've just been rendered as a simple line anyway. She keeps her shirt tucked into her pants. Mia tends to run hot easily, so her clothes are all made of very light fabric despite her purely aesthetic preference for wearing layers.

The red skirt, in spite of my drawing, does wrap around in the back. It has a hole for her tail. It is always slightly open in the front and can be worn without the suspenders, as it actually attaches stays on by itself with velcro in the front. The golden buttons there are for cosmetic purposes. Tends to stay on better with the red suspenders though.

Shoes? Well, they're an open-toed kind of paw sneaker that I aped from a few things I saw online. The base of the paw has a rubber sole - with pawpad patterns painted on. Rest of the shoe is made of fabric that conforms to her paw's shape. The red knobs allow her to tighten her laces, which I stole from BoA. Not only more convenient in real life, but also makes drawing easier.

She has other outfits too - such as a red waistcoat that she wears sometimes. No art of those here for the moment because I am a tired woman. And also because things are still firmly In-Progress.

ACCESSORIES

GLOVES

Why does Mia wear fingerless gloves? Because I cosplayed as Act 3 Maelle [ from Clair Obscur ] once and thought it was fucking cool as shit. They weren't uncomfortable, and they made me feel cool to wear. Therefore, Mia also thinks they are cool. Purely cosmetic choice. They aren't leather though - they are knit. Comfy cloth.

She removes them when she is going to eat or do something that might dirty them.

EARBUD

This is the most WIP thing ever, so god knows if what I write here will change. Should I even write anything here? I feel like it, so I will. Help me flesh it out through public ramblings nobody will read.

This little device serves as Mia's magical cellphone. In the world she comes from, people have various Multipurpose Portable Computerthingies like cellphones that can take whatever forms they want. Some look like cellphones, some are simpler than that. Preference dictates it, as well as lifestyle, etc.

Mia's connects to her core crystal, so its screen is projected directly into her brain. She can see the interface only in her eyes unless she deigns to show it to others. Further, it allows her to transform objects into energy and store them in her core crystal. No living things. The objects can be pretty large though. Like she can store up to two car-sized vehicles in there in addition to a bunch of small things.

It has other functions too, which are probably relevant to her unique story but I haven't fleshed out yet.

SPHYNX SPECIES

A Sphynx is a chimera species I created. They are mostly mammalian anthros. As I mentioned before - there are two types of Sphynxes - normal and carbuncle. This is the most important distinction.

Primarily, sphynxes have canine or feline features, taking from the Carnivora order of animals - feliformia and caniformia. So animals that aren't necessarily dogs or cats, but are like them.

Example: Hyenas are part of feliformia, even though they are not cats. And seals are part of caniformia, even though they are not dogs. The two constants of a Sphynx are that they have a mammalian head, and their feet are always paws.

Sphynxes are primarily mammalian in features, but can commonly have feathered birdlike wings and talonlike hands.

Mia doesn't, She's an ambiguous feline/canine thing, with some minor seal-like features like moderate cold insulation. She has some decent swimming ability too. In the penultimate design, her tail was more overtly seal-like, but I didn't find it fun to draw repeatedly, so I altered it. I kept some intrinsic seal traits though. This is because she might have a transformation that emphasizes her seal traits in the future and also 'cause I wanted her to keep the insulation power.

My rendition of Krystal from Star Fox. The recent announcement of yet another remake of Star Fox 64 for the Switch 2 gave me the urge to draw her. I did slight alterations to her design. Such as long hair. Can't resist the long hair.

Just a concept I made of another Pokesona. Since creating this, I settled on Flareon instead of Braixen or Shaymin. But hey, still a perfectly good practice image. Also rather adorable.

[ 2026 ] Mia the Sphynx Penultimate Design

Dear God, I've been through some kinda hell. Gonna write a Dreamwidth about it later maybe, but I probably need an entire week to recover from the scale of it all. Crazy how powerful brains are, right? The intensity of emotion can do everything to your body. Its sheer might, empowering and paralyzing at the same time. The thing about spiritual anguish is it's nebulous and difficult to understand. We can at least extrapolate the intensity of severe physical pain to some extent because physical pain is inevitable. But deep mental anguish is not. It is highly circumstantial, and people's ability to understand it is wholly dependent on their experiences. So it creates this ridiculous situation, where to one person, something consumes their soul with an agony beyond words. And another? They can't comprehend it, such a pain is impossible to understand from their perspective, and thus easily dismissed.

Just a few musings, I suppose.

Okay, so... despite being utterly obsessed with Clair Obscur, I don't actually post much work regarding it. Which may be strange, considering I've started commenting on some Clair Obscur stuff. And people might come here, expecting me to have it. Or have reblogs or something. And then they just see a bunch of Pokemon and a Digimon thing and they're like, uh... what.

Admittedly, I don't have much. I have some minor writing I'd rather not post, and I am working on a massive fanfic with my husband that will take a very long time to complete. The man has a full-time, physical labor job, so we have to pace our work together. Thus, that won't be posted for even I don't know how long.

[ Why not write without him? I cannot, I absolutely cannot. Any large story I write without him is incomplete. I lack the motivation to finish it, and he provides an extremely vital component to it with his characterization and special touch. If we are not working together, it is inferior to me. And I want this project to have the justice it deserves. It means everything. ]

But that does not mean that ol' M is without something. She's got something for you. It's messy, and it sucks. But it's something dammit.

Clea Human: Very Initial Concept

I have the capability, though not the desire, to draw humans. They're not great and that's why I don't make a lot of Clair Obscur work. Human-centric, and since I'm a no-good furry, I prefer creatures. I will present this to you shamelessly, knowing that you will probably judge my artistic abilities based on this. IT IS VERY sloppy and in the super initial stages. And yes, it looks like she's holding a spoon. She's going to give Alicia soup, I don't know.

It will be a paintbrush and a palette when it gets finished. I will make this mess into something, I swear. Though I won't be drawing human versions of the characters super often. Only once at the very least, so I can kind of get their details in my style... for I have plans to make them into anthropomorphic creatures that I have created called Sphynxes. It's my own species, and I don't want to get into the bones of it, but basically, they mostly have mammalian traits and a mix of feline/canine.

Clea the Sphynx: Very Initial Concepts

Her Sphynx form is based partly on goats and gazelles. She is a variant of Sphynx called a shisa, which have horns and traits of ungulates. Sometimes they can have hooves, but Clea has paws and is also leonine. Yes, I know. My art is very stylized and simplistic, so you can't really see the details of all of this. It's just what I had in mind when drawing her. Sphynxes are kind of supposed to be vague chimeric amalgams anyway.

I wanted to give her this vague demonic theme as a tongue-in-cheek thing. Hence the large horns and association with goats. It's in reference to how I've noticed some people seem to think her to be extremely cruel and even evil in some cases. As well as her icyness towards Alicia in the epilogue.

My own thoughts on Clea are extremely biased because my husband has characterized her in a very specific way in our story, which is crucial to it. He has many endless thoughts about her depth as a character, and things he has interpreted that have made me extremely fond of her. And not see her as just cruel, but a complicated person. From my point of view, if you dig deep, she is an extremely compelling character who is subtle but very nuanced and complex. I don't know if that was the author's true intent, but I can't undo these thoughts about her.

As a Sphynx, Alicia herself will be a griffon, so a mixture of bird traits in there. Meaning she has wings... for a semi-angelic contrast. I'll get to work on her eventually. But the wings do also reference the Reacher, and her Gradient Phoenix Wings. Her wings will be tattered from the fire though, so she cannot fly.

[ 2025 ] Pokemia - Mia the Braixen

Welcome back to More Self Indulgence, starring Mia Dessendre. I'm trying to get all of my 'sonas straightened out. This one came out really really good, and whilst I might draw myself as more Pokemon, this is my OFFICIAL Pokesona that is here to stay. I think one of my favorite things that I was iffy about at first is the Quillwand. It's a mixture of a quill, a wand, and a fountain pen.  Okay, time for the bio now:

Mia Dessendre Braixen | Shiny | Female Fire-type Ability: Blaze Nature: Careful Height: 5'3" Mia Dessendre is a former human who was mysteriously transformed into a rather unique Braixen. She is an Authoress who writes books under the alias M, continuing from her human life. However, most do not know her true identity.  Peculiarities:

Shiny Pokemon*. Though the typical violet coloration presents as more silver on her, similar Fennekin and Delphox's shiny forms. 

Drooping ears. Her ears cannot stay upright as the nature of her transformation has left her Braixen form with this uncommon defect that sometimes presents in the species. They are able to be upright temporarily in moments of alertness or fear.

Drooping hip fur. Her hip fur does not stick up like most Braixen.

Retention of human traits. From her previous form, she keeps a long mane of hair that goes from the top of her head down to her tail. Though it has turned a purpleish silver to match her fur's coloration. She also keeps a strand of stubborn hair that sticks up from her head. The secondary sexual characteristic of breasts is retained, as well as a larger, more humanoid shape, and fully functional hands with five fingers. She also has her signature spot above her mouth.

Yellow eyes. Another remnant of her human form.

Wears clothes. Though she wears less clothing than she used to as a human, Mia still retains a specially tailored version of her signature outfit for her new form. A red vest with white sleeves, her floral choker, and her signature glasses. Her glasses still appear to be necessary in this form, as her vision issues as a human were not fixed.

Miasol, the Quillwand. Her trusty fountain pen/quill hybrid she used as a human Authoress was converted into a Braixen's wand. It keeps its former functions of being able to write, draw, and produce ink. As Mia's hands have not changed much, she is still able to use it with the same precision and deftness that she did as a human. In addition, she can now use it to channel her new abilities as a Pokemon.

Presentation of Delphox traits. Though Mia is unable to evolve due to her unusual circumstances, her new form appears to have traits of Delphox. This is most visible in her clawed feet. She does not have the Psychic-typing of Delphox, but is capable of learning all of the evolved form's moves - even ones that cannot be learned by Braixen such as Mystical Fire. For all intents and purposes, she is a fully evolved Pokemon, and may even be theoretically capable of a unique Mega Evolution. [ Similarly to AZ's Floette. ]

[ Concept / Sketch ] Mia the Sphynx - Manticore

Uh... something I tried to make in a hurry and ended up spending a little more time than I thought. It's still pretty sloppy though.

Refining the design some more. Also, some text info in the image. Elements are for my original series. Fire is obvious, Clair is nothingness/light. As with my name, I stole Clair partially from Clair Obscur. Because of course. Clair is the old Nothing-element from Arylettopia repurposed.

Yes, we have dual-elementals, because that is what fascinates me the most about Pokemon. Still not 100% sure how this concept will manifest though. Everything is SUBJECT TO CHANGE because Miabrain is inconsistent and could decide whatever at the drop of a hat.

[ 2025 ] Digimia - LadyDevimon M

Wasn't expecting to make this. But sometimes quick doodles spiral into things. It's been a while since I've publicly posted Digimon-related art.

This is me as LadyDevimon. Hence the M at the end. Any Digimon I drew myself as will have an M at the end as a sort of different "version" of it like the X-Antibody.

Usually, I don't draw humanlike versions of myself very much, preferring to go in a more animalistic direction. But my brain was stoked back into the Digimon spirit by Time Stranger and I started to consider a digivolution line for myself if I was a Digimon. Not if I was a Digimon tamer, no. If I myself, was a Digimon. I've long had a fascination for BlackGatomon and LadyDevimon, since I had a dream of myself transforming into one and then digivolving to LadyDevimon as a teenager. There were some issues I had with the latter's design that prevented me from expressing it, but I just went ahead and decided to make it more palatable to my sensibilities.

LadyDevimon M Fallen Angel Digimon Ultimate-level Virus

Artist's Notes: So meet LadyDevimon M! How is she different from a regular one? I simplified the design because one of the reasons I don't tend to draw higher level Digimon very much is due to them being too cluttered and complex. I wanted her to be easier to redraw. Also, I wanted her to look more harmless and cute rather than evil, thus I drew her in slightly more chibi proportions as opposed to being lanky. She is shorter than normal LadyDevimon. I spent way too much time on this due to the body shape. I'm still getting used to drawing it, particularly since I'm kind of having to make up this style on the fly due to lack of reference material for bigger women in less realistic styles. [That doesn't border into caricature, overexaggerated, or too sexualized.]

She isn't the default Ultimate for my self Digimon line, but rather a branch-off that happens sometimes when Mia feels intense negative emotions. So a corrupted one, in a sense. But not really evil at all. Allows me to indulge my inner edginess.

Lore: Formed from the self-loathing of former human Mia Dessendre, LadyDevimon M's darkness is based on sorrow rather than rage. Unlike regular LadyDevimon, she is peaceful and will not hurt others, shying away from combat. Even if attacked by other Digimon, she will not retaliate unless it is absolutely necessary.

However, the same peace will not be granted to herself. This Digimon will go into an uncontrollable rage if complimented or spoken kindly of. The crystal on her chest will fill with toxic shadows, causing the familiar attached to her shoulder to start attacking her in her signature move - Forbidden Hazard. Though this technique is intended to only cause harm to LadyDevimon M, it will emit a wave of poisonous shadow that will cause harm to any nearby as well.

She retains a Holy Ring from her previous forms, though it has become silver and tarnished. It allows her to access some of her old healing abilities, but at a cost.

Techniques:

Forbidden Hazard: Her crystal fills with toxic shadows and her shoulder familiar opens up its stitched mouth and starts biting at LadyDevimon M, emitting an acidic wave of darkness that causes damage to herself and those nearby. This attack is painful, but her most powerful technique. [ Exclusive to LadyDevimon M ]

Sacrificure: The tarnished Holy Ring's symbols glow red. Heals another by sacrificing some of LadyDevimon M's energy, which manifests as blood red light. [ Exclusive to LadyDevimon M ]

Darkness Wave: Unleashes creatures of darkness similar to bats.

I've been going through my past a lot and was sorely missing how I used to have a Livejournal back in the day. I tried using this Tumblr as an LJ years ago, but it just... didn't feel the same. There was the fact that the mobile app would mess with my special formatting, and reblogging would take my personal entries out of context. And various other reasons too.
