Danielle is the 33 year old beauty that everyone looks twice at in the street. She knew, she was fully aware. But she was also very sweet for someone so pretty, not stuck up at all. This was was aided by a very closely guarded secret for her. One that only her mother knew about, her chronic bedwetting.
Oh she’d tried everything, spoke to numerous doctors, tried medication, relaxation techniques. It just wasn’t ever something she gained control over. It didn’t affect her sisters or anyone else in the family. Danielle was graced with the looks, but she was also graced with this challenge.
Eventually in her mid 20s she began to begrudgingly accept it. Fed up of ruining mattresses and needing to wash the bedding every day. And the faint smell of urine in her bedroom that she couldn’t mask as much as she tried. After much contemplation, ultimately giving in and making the pivot to nappies.
Sure they were humiliating at first, and she doesn’t like them very much, even all these years later. Though she accepts soggy padding in the morning that can be rolled up and binned is much better than the previous hard work to manage it.
Subconsciously her body knows it’s bedtime when she’s powdered and taped up. She’s just gone to take her make up off, crinkling all the way through the hallway of her own home. She used to be really shy about it but knows the issue isn’t going anywhere, so she may as well try to accept it and be comfortable at home. The occasional strut through the house in her nappy was becoming more common.
It’s only just gone 9pm, on a bright summer June evening but it won’t be long before she’s snoring her head off. Comforted by the giant hug around her waist, as much as she’d deny that detail. And it likely won’t be long before that pristine white nappy has another job of it’s own to be done, to look after her overnight.
