Proxy Trio & Co.

Once Tim entered the kitchen Tim could see what the clatter earlier was. There were pots and pans all over the floor scattered. Given his condition he couldn’t do a whole lot about it so he just pushed them aside with the crutches.

He looked at the stove seeing the remains of the burnt pancakes that brian apparently attempted to cook. 

“How do you burn pancakes?” He expressed his confusion quietly to himself as he cleared the stove. 

He moved the pan to the sink and attempted to wash it

He worked on the meal trying to put full focus on cooking but there was something he couldn't shake about that look that Brian gave him. The look in his eyes... How did they change so much when talking about that thing? It was like the brian he knew was there but locked behind the tragedy of the situation. 

As the water boiled he grabbed a frying pan, throwing in some olive oil, then cracking in the eggs into the oil. They began frying immediately. 

Why was brian keeping him there? Seriously, what was up with this whole thing? If this thing really was pulling the strings, why not just take him? Not like it’d ever given him a choice before. Why now? Not that he really wanted to be taken forcefully by, whatever it was! But he never wanted any of this to happen and it did so…

The eggs were now crisped to perfection. He moved the pan to the side and placed noodles in the now boiling water. He poured in the mixed veggies on top pushing it all under the water. While waiting for them to boil he couldn’t help but let his mind slip yet again. 

Brian acted so differently when it came to that thing. He supposed that’s what it’s influence resulted in. Having been there he understood on some level but this was different than simple paranoia. It was like brian had completely given up. He just accepted that his life was over and submitted all control. How the hell did the Brian he knew become that husk? 

Brian, a man who never gave up, a man who ten years ago pushed hard for everything. How has a man like that been pushed so far that he isn’t even trying anymore. 

Tim wondered but the noodles were done so he finished the preparation, draining the water, dishing the noodles on Styrofoam plates, and finishing them off with a fried egg each. 

He walked out to the couch and sat down. He placed the other plate on the coffee table “Dinner!” He called and cut into his egg. Brian walked out and grabbed the meal, sitting down to enjoy it.
