fun facts about castle:

- He was born with a cleft lip and couldn’t get it surgically corrected until he was about 7 since his family lived in an outer colony without easy access to non-emergency medical care. While the surgery did make it easier for him to speak, eat, drink, etc. the scar is still very prominent and he pronounces bilabial sounds (b, p, m) a little differently.

- He has some form of aspd/sociopathy. He doesn’t experience socially-learned emotions (guilt, shame, empathy, etc.) but rather has a more intellectual understanding of what is or is not socially acceptable. He definitely had a conduct disorder as a kid and started committing minor crimes (mostly shopligting and stealing cars) in his teens, mostly as an expressive outlet. Going into a military career was the most obvious choice for him as he didn’t have to mask quite as much, and his flat affect makes him appear unnaturally calm and collected on the battlefield. Actually, the intense adrenaline rush and catharsis of combat is one of the few experiences he can really feel— he’s only ever really at peace when he’s fighting, and only really feels satisfied for a short while after a mission. He doesn’t enjoy hurting others — he doesn’t care enough about his opponents to pay attention to how they’re reacting. However, he doesn’t always know when to stop and can become more violent than what most would consider appropriate, especially when he’s under a lot of stress.

- Off the battlefield, he’s generally respected, maybe a little feared by those who don’t know him. Though he does mask a little when he’s around others to avoid causing issues, he generally comes across as mostly flat, cold, and expressionless. He’s quiet and can be pretty awkward, though it’s less because of discomfort and more because he just doesn’t understand some aspects of socializing.

- One of the most important figures in his story is his best friend (haven’t come up with a name for her yet) who was on his fireteam during their ODST days. She’s the closest relationship he’s ever had and they trusted each other completely. Things fell through towards the end of the war— increased stress led to him losing control during a fight and compromising the mission. He was discharged after a psych exam, being deemed mentally unfit for service. His friend, one of the few who survived the failed mission, was badly injured. Though she did recover enough to be able to take up a desk job at the UNSC, she never spoke to him again. Losing her shook Castle deeply and he’s avoided close relationships ever since.

- He’s not a complete celibate but he doesn’t have much interest in romance or sex. He had some flings as a teenager/young adult but they ended with a lot of hurt feelings for his partners, which he’d prefer not to deal with. It would take a lot of work for him to maintain that kind of relationship with anyone and i don’t think he would have the capacity for that unless he switched to a less demanding career.

- He turned to freelance work pretty much immediately after being discharged. He was hired by Hargrove early on in the Chorus project, before Locus and Felix were even involved. He worked directly under them, serving as their relay for the space pirates, (still a pretty small force at this point) while they were infiltrating the Chorusan armies. After they incorporated the Tartarus prisoners into their ranks, he maintained his position as a leader since the pirates generally trusted him more than Locus and Felix. He was instrumental in maintaining morale and discipline up until the end.

- His armour consists of bits and pieces he’s picked up during his time as a mercenary, plus his old ODST gauntlets, because he likes the open fingers. He kept it solid black until Chorus, where he added the ice blue accents (and custom skull decals) to be recognizable when leading the space pirates.

so i’ve been taking requests and will continue to take requests, but i’m thinking about maybe opening commissions as well since my stuff’s been doing relatively well on here???

idk how much is expected but i’m thinking prices will range from $5 for little doodles to $150 on a case-by-case basis depending on how much time i estimate it’ll take for me to complete the piece. i’m willing to le accommodate any budget and might add in some freebies if your prompt is especially fun.

as for subjects there’s not a lot i won’t draw. i don’t do a lot of nsfw, but i’m not opposed to trying it if somebody has an idea. any pairing or character is fine, nothing illegal obviously.
