The moment before you fall asleep, he felt stuck in it. Walking around in half a daze, the rest of himutterly alert with every sense of his being. Something was new on the island, something uneasy, and something unwanted. His mind wandered to Hook, how he wasdealing with the intrusion, how any of the key figures in all of this madness were taking to the newness. Did they still tear each other apart, or did they band together against this man still sat quietly in his ship. It was, without a doubt, an unwelcome disturbance, and he doubted that they would allow such a ship to sit on the horizon like that without taking action.
He was shaken from his thoughts by the shuffling of footsteps, his head turning slightly to the side, a sniff to the air as though he were anything but mortal. All he could sense was the faint odour of burning wood and week old blood. Turning toward the trees, his feet slid on the sand, arms folding over his chest as he eyed his intruder. Many knew him on this island, and many had suggested heâd died in the battle. But Smee was much too clever for that. âMay I be of some assistance?â
"You can't just leave me here with him!" Curly laughed and wiped her bloodied knife clean with her cloak. One of the other lost boys was about to help her drag the body of the severely injured rebel close to the shore to bury. They could've just left him for dead but it'd start to stink so soon and maybe the wounds had been stabbed that way that there was no death awaiting to end the torture, only searing pain. So when the victim would be put under the ground, he'd come to his end at last. Her friend ditched her with some random excuse about going to fetch a shovel, but she shrugged it off and started dragging the body to the forest's border with the shoreline. You could wonder why specifically there but it was just the place far enough removed from where the other rebels would look for him.
At the sound of someone else's voice, Curly swiftly dropped the body to reach for her knife and spinned on her heel to face the stranger. She recognized the guy from seeing around here and there but had never actually cared for him before, let alone talk to him. If she would have, he might have been the one she needed to dig a hole for and conceal with dirt and mud. She lowered her weapon when she noticed he didn't pose an immediate threat and smirked. "Well if you feel like excavating his grave... Be my guest."Â
