hello guys! i wanted to ask whether anyone recorded the live stream of the tour final at ebisu liquidroom? i have been to that one and it was freaking awesome and the setlist was perfect and actually everything was perfect about it ;w; but it would be awesome to be able to watch it again~
i have been to both days actually, the final was much better imho, the first day didn’t have that energy. maybe i’ll write something more about it later, but i’m pretty busy now >_< but since it was streamed, i hope that you had a chance to watch it <3

I’ll write a small personal introduction first because I’ve almost did miss this live, but after all my good luck works as always (will I jinx it by writing this? Haha). I had a day off today so I planned to go to Harajuku and Shinjuku with my friend who has never been there. We got into the train to Shibuya and we were supposed to walk the rest of the way. But in the train I’ve started checking the calendar and I saw the date – 7/6 - well, it does certainly remind me of something…what was it… wait! I know it! I just saw it yesterday when I was checking out the goods on Merry’s OHP! Gara's bday! The bday live! OMG It’s today!!! I struggled with finding the wifi to make sure of the details and it turned out that the Utagoe Kissa “Gara” is indeed today and it’s in Shibuya to which I was taking a train at the moment! I didn’t have the ticket yet because I thought there’s more time left till this live… Well, normally I don’t even know what day of the week it is, so dates are even more difficult for me, lol. I arrived at Shibuya and I wanted to buy the ticket through a ticketing machine at a convenience store, but they didn’t sell them… Luckily after some inquiring at the Shibuya O-East it turned out that they will be still sold an hour before the live. So I managed to get mine <3 It was a close call! I wouldn’t want to miss that event for my life TwT
As I already wrote, the live was in Shibuya O-East, same as Gara’s bday live last year. There were less than 200 ppl (last year it was a standard Merry's standing live and if I recall right, it was about 400 ppl). About 150 were seated in front of the stage and I counted about 25 ppl standing with me behind the chairs. My view was perfect – I actually stood at the last row, but I had only two rows of very short girls standing in front of me and I was directly in front of Gara, only few meters away. Before the show started I went to a toilet for a moment and then I suddenly heard Gara’s voice, haha. I couldn’t make out what was he saying, but when I came back, he was caligraphing something in silence on the stage. Gara, you’re not supposed to pop up on the stage like that before the time, haha! Writing took him forever, but it was only like five symbols, lol. Unfortunately I couldn’t read them. We clapped and he left the stage and after a few minutes the main thing started. First on stage came a guy from the Ongaku to hito magazine, I think, and he announced Gara and said that Gara insisted on a little talk part first. Then Gara came and greeted everyone. He was dressed in a dark grey suit, black t-shirt and a silver necklace to go with it, he was of course barefoot and had a black hat. They both sat at a table in the middle of the stage and Gara said that he got his old photos from his parents to show us. After some fumbling and fails with the tablet, Gara managed to open the first photo – it was him as a baby right after he was born. He talked a little bit about it and then moved onto the next one where he was about three, then an elementary school pic, another from a baseball team (he looked nothing like himself now, I think that during the high school time some magic occurred and he suddenly started looking like he’s looking now). The MC asked why did he become interested in baseball and Gara answered that he liked the female baseball announcer and also that he dreamed of big career, grand apartment and expensive car at that time haha. He took a longer time to show us the next one and when it came up, everyone started cracking up. It was a picture of him during the middle school and he was doing a headstand on a sofa next to his friends - he commented that it was probably the day when Merry was conceived haha. Next was a pic when he was about 21-22 and making his first (failed xD) attempts at a visual kei makeup. The MC pointed to a map visible on his flat’s wall behind him on the photo – after a closer look it happened to be a map of Thomas the Tank Engine-themed amusement park. Gara commented that he was a fan, haha, and he thinks he probably went there. Then an early After Effect pic came up, a profile one, I think I’ve seen it online before but I can’t find it now. He had shorts there and some kind of ripped tights and on one leg there were… meat pieces attached to his leg (I thought about Lady Gaga, lol). When asked about this, Gara answered that he just went to a store and got some random meat to make his image look cooler, haha. Then there was a very old Merry pic with them all holding something (I definitely saw this one online, but no way to find it now…). The MC asked what did they have in their hands to which Gara said that they thought that it would look better if they were holding something and they decided for raw chickens. Unfortunately they smelled really bad according to him, haha. There was some more trivia during the talk, but that’s all I remember now. That part was really funny and had an easy-going atmosphere.
Then the talk finished, MC left and Yuu came on stage with an acoustic guitar and Yoshioka-san came to play the piano (no idea who he actually is, but I remembered his name, lol). It was very Shiroi Hitsuji-style. The first song was Tasogare Restaurant and then came a cover of Ai wa Kagerou originally sung by Gamu. The songs sounded really beautiful, Gara just stood in the center of the stage and sung. He tried to stay pretty much motionless but he ended up doing that pigeon movement with his neck to the melody, haha. Then it was time for a short MC – Gara said that since it’s supposed to be an utagoe kissa, he thought that he’ll just sing the songs he personally likes and that they’ll be mainly Showa-era songs. Then two more covers followed which I really loved, I wish this stuff was released, it was an ultimate Garaoke, haha… The songs were Abayo by Ken Naoko and Ai ga Tomaranai by Wink. Then it was Merry’s own Unreachable Voice. We all stayed very quiet, just clapping between the songs when he thanked and bowed so Gara asked whether we’re falling asleep, lol. Next was Heijitsu no onna, Gara talked a little about it and said that it’ll be different version than normally and then he said something funny, but I only remember that it was funny, faaaail. Maybe I’ll remember later. Then two more covers followed (Memory Glass by Horie Jun and Love is over by Ouyan Fifi) and Gara said that originally in an utagoe kissa everyone is supposed to sing together so he would like to sing with us. Then he added that I won’t be a Merry song but he hopes that it’s alright. And then he said that it’s AKB48's Heavy Rotation, haha, everyone started to laugh so much and even more when we realized that he’s 100% serious and even came prepared - he actually had the staff hand out the lyrics to us. He took his tambourine and they played an acoustic but very upbeat version of it – we mostly did the chorus with I want you! I need you! I love you! and later Gara asked if we even sang any other parts, haha. As for why he chose this song, he said that AKB48 was his hobby, lol. Then the time for the last song came, Gara said that he saved Happy life for the last. Have I told you that I really love this song? The lyrics especially. It was truly awesome and perfect for the last song. Then he thanked us all and a 50s-60s upbeat song with female vocals was played in the background. We started clapping to it and Yuu brought out the bday cake (standard white bday cake, nothing like the one he had last year). Gara blew out candles, thanked us again and actually marched off the stage to the tune while clapping his hands, it looked so cute, lol. And that was unfortunately the end, the whole thing was about 1h40min, quite short, but so awesome and so Gara-style (and my style, SHOUUUWAAA). I’m so happy I realized the date and went there… I didn’t actually know what to expect of it, cause I wasn’t keeping up with Merry recently and I don’t know if there were any details about this event posted, but I had to go anyway and I was more than satisfied. The atmosphere was very intimate and cozy. Again I ended up as the only foreigner at their live and it always feels a little bit weird, but at the same time I just don’t care. Btw the drinks served during the live were called Happy Life and Aoi Haru. And everything was so perfect TwT
BTW I just went to check out Gara’s tag, I love everyone’s bday spam, you’re all perfect too <3

hello~ thanks for messages! ^^ in the end i chose to create another blog dedicated to various bands, please follow if you’re interested :D it’s still mostly empty though.
i haven’t posted anything in a while here, so today i have “mitsu” for you... and that will be it for a while. if you check the directory, there are only three songs left to be translated: “makkana aoi haru”, “freaks a go go” and “kigeki no taboo”, but i won’t be translating them anytime soon. i’ve started working on them quite a while ago, but i just can’t work out those lyrics and i don’t want to post shitty translations that will make no sense. understanding words is one thing, understanding the living language in a context is another thing. so probably i will post new translations when “heijitsu no onna” is out ^^
anyway i’ve been quite busy these days with life and work, but still i need something to waste my free time on, so i guess i’ll start another project? but i don’t know what! i was thinking about translating dir en grey, but they are so widely translated already... though some of those translations... ugh. i’ve also translated lots of different bands before, altogether more than 500 lyrics, so i don’t know, maybe i’ll create a blog for random translations? or if you have any nice ideas, i’m open for suggestions, pls write!! ^^

Note: This song is a cover of a 1968 song by Mina Aoe which was a huge hit at that time. It's so famous and recognizable that if you visit Isezaki in Yokohama you can see a board and statue dedicated to it (if you press the button, it plays the song!). I tried to find some pictures of the Isezaki district from 1960s, but all I managed to find were these [1] and [2]... And this is the Port of Yokohama in 1970s (btw it changed so much! [1] and [2]). "Kuroi niji” was released first, but in my opinion the story told here precedes it - here we have a boy leaving his mother to participate in the war (probably after the bombing in Hiroshima/Nagasaki - the part about the black rain) and the unsung parts seem to be mother’s thoughts which the boy didn’t hear in the end. And then it continues to “Kuroi niji” where the boy participates in the war (as kamikaze I think?) and dies during fighting.
