here’s what you missed on…
marley attended berklee college of music in boston after graduating mckinley. she basically got into that music program and got the hell out of ohio. it wasn't an easy decision, because of course, marley's a mama's girl and had never been away from her mom before, but she also knew that if she stayed in lima, she'd more or less wither away.
she needed to go and pursue music, after all, it was her dream. after berklee, marley moved to los angeles to pursue music and chase a shot at a record deal. she put herself out there through weddings, parties, just anything that would get her name out there in any way. an open mic's happening? you bet marley will be there with her guitar and sharing her songs.
music does not one hundred percent pay the bills, however. she's released an EP independently and sells copies at the gigs she manages to get, but it's hard to be an indie musician in LA of all places. marley works at a bakery to try and make ends meet. to be a musician is to accept that you're going to have to be married to the hustle, and marley has been for years.
though she lives far from her mom, marley does text her every day and facetimes with her several times a week.
