after leaving mckinley, brittany found herself lost. the friends she'd made over the last few years in the choir room were no longer all together, but scattered about, and, without mr. schue standing in front of the whiteboard, telling her what to focus on this week, it was hard to know what she was meant to be doing with her life. after about two years of bouncing around the country, trying to find where she fit in, brittany eventually found her way to new york city - coincidentally, where a lot of her friends had wound up - where she began to pursue a career in dance, something she'd been passionate about since she was little.
after some time spent working in a dance studio, she took a chance on herself and auditioned to become a backup dancer for an up and coming pop star's music video, which lead to more music video roles, and, eventually, employment as a dancer for sold-out touring artists. she's gotten to travel the world and party with mega stars.
unfortunately, however, living her dream didn't come without a price. soon after she'd arrived to new york, brittany's relationship with santana had rekindled, and they'd found themselves getting married shortly before brittany's career really began to take off. they were able to handle the long distance and months on the road at first, but, their young ages paired with the stress, at a time when they were trying to find themselves didn't mesh well, and, after three years, they made the decision to call it quits.
it's now been five years since the divorce, and though they're still friends, the two are no longer attached at the hip like they once were - other than the occasional slip up that tends to happen during reunions with their friends. this time, though, they mean it. no funny business.
