โThereโs one tomorrow? What time?โ
You step in, staring at her curved back. Hunched over a piece of paper as her pen glides in such a quick manner as she hums away. She was certainly planning something. Whether it was to submit to her whims or something entirely sweet, you wouldnโt know for sure. She wouldnโt share that with you. Somehow spinning it into a lie, a lie so delicious that you end up tethered to it. You would have to trust her. You lived with the woman, and a part of you trusted her even though you shouldnโt have.
โPerfect. Thank you. Yes. That was all.โ
You watch her return the receiver to its cradle.
โWhat are you planning?โ You ask innocently enough, edging yourself closer to her desk to peer over her to see what she has written down.
โNothing.โ She lies, planting her hand over the piece of paper to hide her written words.
