red & white roses
I just noticed A Thing about this scene.
Charlie is angry here. She wants the Vees gone, Vaggi is supporting her in typical Vaggi fashion, and Charlie has taken on her demonic form in a threat display of her own. She has absolutely no issue with threatening the two if that's what it takes to make them leave.
We switch to a closeup on Velvette, during which she ends up on the business end of Vaggi's spear and Vox intervenes. And in the next wide shot, Charlie's attitude has completely changed.
You'd think she would still be on guard, or maybe relieved that the Vees are on their way out, but instead she appears surprised. Her defensive posture has dropped. And as Vox steers Velvette away, she returns to her normal form, looking even more shocked.
Something happened here which she did not expect. And it's not Vox's casual disregard for the incredibly dangerous weapon, because he's obviously wary of it; far more so than he was when it was pointed at him, in fact. And he just as obviously puts himself between it and Velvette, so it's no mystery why he suddenly decided to take the threat seriously.
Charlie set up an elaborate, sabotaged to be actually life-threatening situation so Angel could "save" Husk, because she thought selflessly endangering himself could be the key to redemption. And then one of the people who spent the entire day mocking her efforts went and did that like it was second nature. And then that same person immediately turned around and asked if she thought he could be redeemed like it was some kind of gotcha.
Like. Sir. You literally just showcased your most redeemable quality to the Princess of Friendship Hell. And she noticed. What did you think she was going to say? (I'm sure he missed her reaction because he was focused on Vaggi, but still).
one problem that comes up with writing and/or talking about Velvette is that I obviously want to avoid reducing her down to an auxiliary character whose entire existence revolves around managing the lives of two circumstantially incompetent men, both for the self-evident misogyny involved and because I don't even think it's an interesting or accurate interpretation of the Vees' overall dynamic in the first place. the thing is though. Velvette thinks of herself that way. and in fact believes it makes her sound very cool and powerful that she is the secret backbone holding up two important men who actually can't be trusted to do anything without her help. she loves this framing, so much so that she's built an entire identity on top of it, and this itself is actually a really interesting independent character trait of hers to explore, so that's awesome, but also oooohhh my god. girl. the inner turmoil you are putting me through.

Also, I just love pink girls and think a social media star and a pop star could shine together.
why do people not get that charlie telling vox "i think anyone can be redeemed" isn't her being naive its her refusing to excuse his actions. because if he can be redeemed then hes choosing not to. thats why he asked the question in the first place, he was trying to break her down and get her to admit that him being a monster is inevitable, and when she doesnt give him that, his smile falters because he wants to see himself as not responsible for his actions. this is hell, after all. does being good even matter? charlie thinks it does. subscribe for more #epiccharliemoments

good morning
i was trying to make a vox redesign but then as i was drawing i suddenly had the idea of unbuggy-fied bug vox and it sounded so silly to me i had to draw it
wuht if bug vox was turned into a sinner (virus vox except he has joy and whimsy in his heart)
(for the people who dont know wtf i mean by bug vox, this is my bug vox)
can u imagine LMFAOOOOO
"alastor you're ruining my tough guy personality" "who's a good boy?" "MEEEEE!!!!"
he is nonverbal most of the time and he's kind of like a big dog, be nice to him he was a tiny bug just yesterday/silly
(extra doodle)
Just realised 3 out of the 4 Hazbin ships I've drawn this month have involved Charlie. I wonder if you can tell who my favourite character is...
i don't actually have complex thoughts on this nor do i think the topic warrants it but based on their 30 seconds of screen time i'm convinced that the overlords prick and hatchet are engaged in a deeply romantic, two-sided homoerotic rivalry that is neither unspoken nor repressed in any way, and they are very happy like that. they just want to shoot each other wild west style every day for the rest of eternity. it's beautiful
box vox discovers he can hypnotize people. antics ensue
alastor continues to be the fakest idgafer of all time. anyways. have you guys seen the sparks print

"are you ok with mutuals dming?" my mutuals can keep me as their pet if they want
As much as it is in Charlie's nature to thrust help upon people I do kind of wonder if part of what unconsciously draws her to Alastor is that he's one of the few people she doesn't feel any real need to perform emotional labor for. Both because he very expressly doesn't want it and, more importantly, she views him as so powerful and untouchable that he never sets off her savior complex. Again, this sort of thing is very much Charlie's inclination—helping people makes her happy and I fully believe that she tries her damndest to get Alastor to open up and express a feeling every now and then, but she still gets something out of having this one person she doesn't feel constant responsibility for
