Introducing a new fantasy-themed readathon: #becausedragonsRAT

For a while now, I’ve been wanting a readathon dedicated solely to fantasy reads. My shelves are overloaded with lots of fantasy I haven’t read but have been dying to get to. And participating in readathons has been one of my favorite parts about joining the online bookish community. 

So, I’ve invented #becausedragonsRAT. Cause who doesn’t love a book with dragons in it? 

(And also, I may have been playing too much Dragon Age: Inquisition lately…)

The goal of this readathon is simple: READ ALL OF THE FANTASY. You can read as little or as much fantasy as you want. As long as you’re having fun, you’re doing it right.

So here’s the details:

Dates:  Begins Monday February 20th at 12am wherever you are in the world. Ends Sunday February 26th at 11:59pm wherever you are.

Reading Challenges: 1. Read a diverse fantasy book. (could be #ownvoices, could be a POC author, could be a diverse cast of characters, or set in a part of the (real) world you are not familiar with) 2. Read a fantasy book with a steamy romance. 3. Read a fantasy book with purple on the cover. (any amount is sufficient) 4. Read the next fantasy book in a series. (continue a series or start a new one) 5. Read a fantasy books with dragons in it. Because, duh.

Giveaway: At the end of this readathon, I will gift two lucky winners a book of their choice, up to $15 USD, from the Book Depository (so yes, this is international if they ship to you). 

To be entered to win, you will have to participate in the daily challenges. Each challenge that you complete will win you one entry into the giveaway. So if you do one of these challenges, you will get one entry. If you do all seven, you will get seven entries. Anything that does not use the hashtag will not be entered because I will probably not see it.

Daily Challenges:  The daily challenges will be photo challenges. BUT, you do not need an Instagram to participate. You can post your photo on either Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr to participate (or all 3 if you really want to). Each post should include the hashtag #becausedragonRAT to make sure I see it (you can also tag me if you want).

I will cross post the challenge details and an example photo on my Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr each morning (between 9-10am EST). You will have until I post the next challenge to post your contribution (on the last day, you will have until the readathon ends).
