here's a lovely little post from the New York Times magazine about Ezra Stoller, master of mid- to late-20th century architectural photography: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/10/21/magazine/ezra-stoller.html?smid=tw-nytmag
fourandsix is a company that detects image manipulation for mostly forensic purposes. lauren margolis talked about them in her article for photoshelter, "how to determine the authenticity of a photograph."
this page lists examples of photo manipulation throughout the last century--really interesting stuff.
food photography shoot with the marketing director of mcdonald's canada. check out a food stylist (noah--the young dude) in action and see what a difference styling makes.

from architectural record's daily newsletter, a photo by michael moran.
interesting because it approaches in a photograph what many architects would attempt to show with a rendering. the way the light plays across the broad front parts of the house and illuminates parts of the interior, the way the shadows are kept short by the angle at which the house is viewed, and the way the house's context is shown off without overpowering the house itself all work to the design's favor.

that's a good set of portraits. DII2 students, maybe you want to splatter your composite portrait models with mud? #kiddingbutnotreally

saw this on instagram's tumblr page. they got it from @vonvintage.
i love it for several reasons. i love that my students might see a beautiful hasselblad and fall in love. but mostly i love that they get to see what a lens with hyperfocal distance indicators looks like.
Horses ass.
uh, this is great.
i like it all: the color, styling, posing, lighting, shooting. especially the lighting.

This is a little something from a project we’ve been cultivating for a little while now. We’re pretty proud of how it’s shaping out.
It’s a double exposure created in Photoshop (not in-camera) of a medium format shot from last winter and a digital shot taken this summer in Cape Cod.
