It is utterly baffling that a showrunner of a show as big as this one has the bandwidth to continue saying tone deaf comments that do nothing but alienate the audience.

We're less than two weeks away from the premiere. Making comments that prove that you have no intention to research the characters you're still writing for is a wild choice.

This is embarrassing.

Melissa McBride and Norman Reedus deserve better. And so do we.

Your PR and marketing has made sure to push that narrative HARD. So since they're bffs and not much else according to TPTB, do us all a giant favor and stop trolling the ever-loving sh*t out of the Caryl fandom. Y'all always want it both ways.

P.S. - Well over a DECADE of TWD Universe on TV and not a decent showrunner to be had since Darabont. Whose soul needs to be sacrificed to get someone who UNDERSTANDS Daryl and Carol as individual characters as well as a unit? Get rid of Zabel, give Gimple a retirement package and get a REAL showrunner already.

I am TERRIFIED of S2. I've been rewatching interviews from SDCC and I just see/hear the answers and comments in such a different way since Zabel's comments. I wish I could go back to being excited but I'm just not at all looking forward to this.

I’m terrified of Daryl’s arc specifically. Like I said, I think Melissa’s performance and her input will do right by Carol as always, which is the only reason I was willing to sit through weird dialogue and a hokey plot until a more competent writer could take over, but the SDCC trailer, the 206 spoilers/teaser, and the things Zabel/Nicotero keep saying really destroyed any excitement I had for the show as well as for future events like NYCC/Palyfest. Melissa and Norman can hype the show just by being in the same room together, but when the other EPs are there, they drag them down. I love Daryl for personal reasons I’ve mentioned briefly before and I don’t want to lose the things about him that drew me to his character in the first place, but that’s exactly what a “surrogate” family and shipbaiting him with a nun does. I love Carol too, but I can’t ignore what’s going on with Daryl and just focus on her story instead because their stories (across the flagship show) are very much tied to each other’s. They raise each other up, but if one of their stories gets damaged, the other’s does too. So now as far as watching goes, I just have to play it by ear 😞
