ABSOLUTE SPOILERS STOP AT THIS POINT IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE EPISODE!!! okay but the archdiocese pulling the plug being a metaphor for them getting canceled. they have one month (four episodes). they're successful (brilliant show received well), but it's not about success (in the world of streaming, evil somehow isn't contributing enough to paramount's bottom line) can't they move to another parish (another network)?? no, the archdiocese would rather switch to a call center, which is objectively worse but cheaper and can handle a larger scale of cases (create as much content as cheaply as possible, don't worry about quality, don't worry about the quality of life for the employees).

The absolute character actor flex of getting Wallace Shawn, Anna Chlumsky, Richard Kind, and John Caroll Lynch in the first 10 minutes. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the finale has Margo Martindale in a demon suit.
