Happy earth day 🌍🌎🌏
Baby spiny dogfish shark. My first shark specimen
Life 600 miles from Sea
Growing up I wanted nothing more than to be a Marine Biologist. I wanted to spend my days on the ocean and study all its creatures. There's so many different and amazing things in the ocean and I just felt this pull to it. Like this is what I was meant to do, and I was a dream I chased. But as I got older I ran into a personal problem, I let others words get the better of me. I was told I wasn't smart enough to become a Marine Biologist. My grades were good and I had the passion, but I heard it from so many people over the years that one day I just started to wonder. Not to mention the somewhat shameful fact that I've never seen the ocean in person. Crazy right, I got hooked from the Shedd Aquarium as a kid. I used to love going there. But I also, live 600 miles from the nearest ocean, and have all my life. I dream that one day I'll get to live some place cool like Australia, little house near the ocean and study my passion animal. Sharks! They are just such fascinating animals. I actually have a baby spiny dogfish shark in a jar, not sure where he game from I just remember it was something my dad had and I thought it was the coolest thing. Took it to school once, 3rd grade I think...It took a while for me to get my spark back but eventually I found it and when I did, I also found a school that could help me from where I was. Unity Distance Education, an online environmental college. I was exactly what I needed, at this point I had already graduated from high school and was in community college near home so I didn't exactly have the means to move to a school on the coast. So Unity was the next best thing. Honestly the school is amazing and is what I need in my current situation, I can work at my own pace after all. But it is also extremely lonely. I never thought I would miss being in a classroom of all things but I do. Most of the classes are all self tough. The professor provides us with the needed information and the students take it from there. I don't really have any communication with my classmates and communication with my professors and counselor is often one sided. I am left to navigate the process alone. One of the biggest struggles I have right now is finding a marine bases internship near by. There's a few things I've had my eye on but sadly nothing has gotten back to me yet. Which is exactly why I wanted to start this page. I wanted to use this as a way to reach out to people like me who love the ocean and spread my knowledge in hopes that I inspire someone else the way that I was inspired. And maybe show off my knowledge of the ocean, I've learned a lot of cool things from my school that I look forward to sharing with you guys. If you have topic suggestions or just want a Marine enthusiast friend, feel free to reach out
Hey there guppies I am here with a really exciting announcement. I will be writing again, yay. Some of you may be familiar with my other page sibylthebookkeeper (I still wanna try and post stories there so don't worry). This page is gonna be dedicated to my love of all things aquatic. I am currently on my way to be a Marine Biologist and I wanna share my passion and knowledge with you guys. I got a lot of fun ideas planned, keep an eye out for my future YouTube videos and tiktoks. I hope I can teach you guys something new and maybe even inspire you to be more involved in nature
