Design Inspiration

So this time we had to find a portfolio website and study the coding.

So we’ve started our business website project. I ended up picking Spirit Apothecary for my project. After deciding that that was the business that I was going to be redesigning their website, I started looking at other botanical business websites and metaphysical business websites for inspiration.

Starwest Botanicals was the first one that I found that I liked. I liked how the website was organized.

Monterey Bay Spice Company was another one that I found interesting. The thing that stuck out to me about their website was the texture and how everything looked like it was sitting on something. Like papers on a table.

On the metaphysical side of things, I had a harder time finding websites that I liked. A lot of them looked like the design was out of date or it was poorly done. But then The Mystical Moon caught my eye. It had the grid layout that I had been wanting to attempt for either this project or our portfolio site project.

On the very first line of code is the !doctype line classifying this website as an HTML site. Then, in the first couple lines of coding within the head of the site are links to different CSS pages depending on what browser is being used. Once the CSS pages are linked, there is coding to also link JavaScript coding pages. The last bit of coding that is in the head that I can recognize is the title for the page. So I went to look up what the meta tag is used for.

While Warframe’s website on certain pages are packed with a lot of information, like their home page, that is one thing that I like about this website. I like that you can learn so much about the game before you decide if you want to download it or not. The layout of the website makes it easy to find topics by category.

Another thing that I like about this website is that along the side on certain pages it will have icons that will show you which update the different game systems are on or if a new update is in progress.

Now originally I had been thinking about talking about Pokemon’s website. The reason I didn’t is because there’s times that I have not been able to get the site to load for a variety of reasons. I have not had that issue with Warframe’s website and it has a decent load time.
