Which came out more like “Maaaaahm!”,

“What happened this time, boys?” Why does she even ask? She already knows.

“Mikey’s glasses broke!”

Mikey, his little brother was slumped over the headboard, panting. He tilted his head back to look at him with a goofy smile. His nose was bleeding and maybe bent out of shape. His glasses were lopsided. One lens was shattered, the other completely popped out.

Gerard shoved him further off the headboard, his bony waist being pinched by it. Mikey kicks behind himself blindly and hits his brother in the stomach with his foot. He snickers, then Gerard is pressed up against him, gripping the hair at the base of his scalp and jerking his head around like a snow globe.

“Do something. Before she kicks my ass.” he tugs Mikey’s shirt back into place before whacking him in the head for good measure.

The blood from Mikey's nose gushed into his throat and he choked on it. It dribbled onto the carpet. By the time their mom reached the doorway, Mikey’s pants had already been tugged back up.

Gerard was at their desk, eyes wide with mock worry while fiddling with their pencil case.

“I think he slammed his head.”
