It was past 7 in the evening when my group reached camp 3 where we've decided to call it a night. A group of men greeted us as we arrived and gave us a thumb's up for making it. To our surprise, we heard Mar asking "why did you girls decide to go on a hike this late"? Honestly, we're so dead tired and didn't have the energy to respond in english so we jokingly said "gosh english! Hindi natin nadala ang headset natin." Mar laugh and asked us in tagalog instead. We told him, "gusto po kasi namin maabutan yung sunset kaya hapon na kami nagstart mag trek." He said, "ang gagaling nyo. Mga babae pa naman kayo. By the way, if you want to make coffee may hot water kami dito." We thanked him then started setting up our tent after that short conversation. We rested from 11pm after our milkyway photography sesh and woke up at 3am. As we are preparing to cook for our breakfast, our rented camping stove and butane embarassed us to the point where in we thought it will explode so we ran right next to their tent shouting. Luckily it didn't explode but those guys had a good laugh on us. My friends want to have a picture with him before we leave the campsite but we all want to catch the sunrise so Mar said we'll take picture once we reach the summit. His team headed back to the summit 30 mins earlier than us. When me and my friends arrived at the summit, there were so many hikers lined up to have a picture with him. We caught his attention and he asked "kayo ba yung kapitbahay namin sa campsite?" We said yes po. Then he asked us to come and a have picture together 😊. I did not root for this man and have not voted for him but it was such a great experience meeting him not as a politician but a hiker. He is such a nice guy and I must say "First impression doesn't last. 😊
