The natural hair movement became more than a conversation about hair but a worldwide discussion on race and gender. "One act of feminism apart from fighting patriarchy is representation. It's putting women out here. It’s showing that I am a woman and I am here and I am your equal and I deserve to be in this space. So an act of black feminism would be putting black women out there and saying this is who I am, this is my skin tone, this is my hair texture and I am here. We are here. So for me just posting regular black girls with their booty length box braids taking a mirror selfie in the school bathroom is an act of black feminism."

I miss my hair like this 💃

I recently got accepted into an amazing writing program, a Cambridge Writer's fellowship program! Due to the cost I made a GoFundMe page. I am not even nearly into my goal and time is running out I had someone tell me why don't you just use your own money, which I have and continue to do so, all $852 that was not an easy thing to do at all lol. I am even more invested in this than I am asking others to be, which is the way it should be I'm overall an optimist but the reality is I might not be able to go If you would like to contribute to my GoFundMe page, share with your contacts or know about grants that I can apply for that would tremendously help me on this journey. Hopefully by the end of this month I can officially call myself a Cambridge Writer's fellow preparing for a life changing writing experience in Spain.

what she means: if in shrek 2, fiona's parents are the king and queen of the land, how come lord farquad has the governmental power in the first movie? surely when you think about it, the kingdom of far far away, shrek's swamp, lord farquad's city, and fiona's tower are all within walking distance - shrek and donkey make it from the swamp to the castle to fiona's tower in a matter of days, all on foot, so it is a small area of land we're talking about. so who is this lord farquad, and does he have any relation to the king and queen? was his and fiona's wedding incest?? or was he doing something illegal unbeknownst to the kingdom?? is lord farquad's city of Duloc it's own country, much like the vatican is of italy?? does shrek's swamp fall into duloc, or the kingdoms territory? was Lord Farquad illegally using the land when he dumped the fairytale creatures there??? who creates these legislative policies??? is there a governmental force bigger than both the kingdom and duloc???? how many layers does lord farquad have?????

Poetry is admitting to a room full of strangers what you think about before you go to sleep. I never knew I was the type of person to read my fears out loud. Some days this is brave. Some days this is my only option. Some days it’s a complete joke, It’s like…woah how many different ways can I tell you all my secrets And still you will know nothing about me. Some days I write a poem and it feels as though I am writing an obituary. Some days I write a poem and it feels like I’m writing my prescription. Some days I write because I once found a suitcase full of my father’s poems Some days I write because no one will listen Some days I write because it seems like the most obvious thing to do
