The Southern Resident population feeds almost exclusively on Chinook #salmon. Chinook populations in the Pacific Northwest have declined drastically since the constructions of large scale hydropower dams. Recent studies have shown a direct link between Chinook abundance and Southern Resident orca survival. As Chinook disappear, so do the Southern Resident orcas. What can we do to stop this?
