HARRY TAKING CARE OF SNIFFLEY LOUIS FOR AMNESIA TIMESTAMP HEHEHEHEHE
Not sure this is what youâve wanted, but⌠I was in the mood for something emotional, so this happened ! Not betaed, so you can keep all the mistakes and typos you find :DÂ
Louis opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling. His heart was rabbiting in his chest, and he was panting. The images of Harry, head hung low, blood dripping from his chin, skin cold â they slowly vanished in front of his eyes.Â
Groaning, Louis sat up, his hands sweaty and shaking. He looked at Harry who lay next to him, still sound asleep. Carefully, he tucked a curl behind Harryâs ear, letting his fingers linger. Harryâs skin was warm, dry, his hair soft.Â
Louis slipped out from under the duvet and quietly left the bedroom. He closed the door, leaving Harry to his peaceful sleep.Â
In the kitchen, Louis filled a glass with water, gulping it down in one go. His hands were still shaking, his arms covered in goosebumps.
He had expected the dreams to come back. After all, the anniversary of their accident was coming up. With it being the same day as Liamâs birthday, it was easy to pretend it had never happened. They just focused on going to Liamâs party, spending the day with all their friends. No one had to think about that God-awful day seven years ago.Â
He stared out of the window, blinking away the tears, swallowing them back down. It wasnât always easy to forget for Louis. The dreams had become so much less since heâd got Harry back in his life, but they still came back in times of stress.Â
Louis had known theyâd come, the way he hadnât been able to stop thinking about the accident in the past few days. That he had known, however, didnât make it any easier to deal with the dreams, though.Â
Dreams, flashbacks, memories. Louis wasnât even sure anymore what they were. It was all mixed together when he slept, overwhelming him with a feeling of being powerless, of anxiety, and fear.Â
He jumped a little when suddenly, arms wound around his waist, pulling him against a warm body. His shoulders relaxed, the tension in his back dissolving.Â
âHey,â Harry murmured, kissing Louisâ shoulder. âYouâre shaking.â
Louis lifted one hand to touch Harryâs face. âDid I wake you up?âÂ
Harry ignored Louisâ question, resting his chin on Louisâ shoulder instead. âYour skin is cold, baby.âÂ
âIs it?â Louis blinked his eyes rapidly to get rid of every proof for his little breakdown.Â
âLou.â Harry gently turned him around, expression becoming soft when he looked at Louisâ face. âDonât act like I wouldnât know.âÂ
Louis couldnât bear it, so he let his gaze linger on Harryâs bare chest. âIâm good.âÂ
âYouâve had nightmares again.â Harry ran a hand up Louisâ back to his nape. âDonât shut me out.âÂ
Giving up, Louis let his head fall forward, burying his face against Harryâs neck.Â
âIâve been thinking about it, too.â Harry pressed his lips against Louisâ temple, voice quiet. âI know itâs been haunting you.âÂ
âI keep seeing it over and over again.â Louis let Harry sway him and closed his eyes. âI keep losing you.âÂ
Harry swallowed thickly, his hand stopping its movement in Louisâ hair. He drew back and took Louisâ hands, pulling him over to one of the chairs standing at their kitchen table. Louis ended up in Harryâs lap, and Harry put a finger under Louisâ chin to make him look at Harry.Â
âIâm right here, Louis.â Harry drew him in, gently kissing Louisâ lips.Â
Louis sighed, relaxing into the kiss. He wound his arms around Harryâs neck, taking everything in. The way Harry tasted at three in the morning, the warmth of his hands on Louisâ waist, his heart beating steadily against Louisâ chest.Â
âWhat can I do?â Harry asked quietly when they broke the kiss. âI hate seeing you like this.âÂ
Louis leaned his forehead against Harryâs, looking into his eyes. âThis is just fine.âÂ
âYou gotta talk to me, Lou.â It felt like a secret whispered in the dimly lit kitchen. âThis canât go on.âÂ
Of course it couldnât. Louis knew that even if Harry didnât remember the day, he was aware of it, too. He had his own demons to fight.Â
âI donât just wanna be there after youâve gone through hell.â Harry still kept his voice quiet, as if he didnât want to scare Louis away. âI wanna stop those nightmares from haunting you.âÂ
âYou canât.â Louis closed his eyes, framing Harryâs face with his hands. âYouâre doing enough by being here, Harry. They got so much less since Iâve got you back.âÂ
Harry pulled Louis even closer. âIf itâs enough, why wonât they stop?âÂ
Louis wanted to tell him that the memories couldnât be so easily erased. It felt like a bitterly ironic thing to say, given their situation. âI told you, theyâll never completely stop.âÂ
âYou also told me youâd let me in.âÂ
Biting his lip, Louis opened his eyes again.Â
âIâve known you were struggling with it over the past few days. And then you just sneak out on me when you have a nightmare, when Iâd be right there next to you to comfort you.â Harryâs brows knitted together, his lips pursed in a pout. âThatâs not the deal we had.âÂ
âI know.â Louis forced himself to hold Harryâs gaze. âWhat am I supposed to say, Harry?âÂ
âThe truth,â Harry requested.Â
That stood between them for a moment, weighing heavily over their heads.Â
âWhen I close my eyes,â Louis whispered, voice feeling raw in his throat, âIâm back in that moment. That fear takes over, making me feel paralised and powerless. Touching you, but being unable to do anything.âÂ
Harry exhaled on a shuddery breath. âYou wonât ever have to feel like that again.âÂ
âI know.â Louis smiled slightly. âBut I did then, and I canât overcome that so easily. Not when itâs about you.âÂ
âLou.â Harry kissed him again, his hands gripping Louisâ waist tighter. âI love you.âÂ
âI know,â Louis replied, thumbs caressing Harryâs cheeks. âThat actually helps a lot.âÂ
Harry chuckled quietly. âSeriously. Talk to me when you get scared.âÂ
âI will.â Louis let go of Harryâs face to put his head on Harryâs shoulder. âIâm still getting used to the fact that I donât have to deal with this alone.âÂ
âOkay.â Harry pressed his lips against Louisâ forehead. âAnd wake me up when you have a bad dream. Let me be there for you.âÂ
Louis nuzzled into Harryâs hold. âItâs not always easy to let you see me like this,â he admitted.Â
Harry hummed quietly. âI know. Thereâs no one else you can trust showing that part of you to, though. I can take it, Louis. I can handle it.âÂ
A light from outside illuminated the kitchen for a moment. Water dripped from the tap, cutting through the silent room. Louis closed his eyes, feeling overwhelmed â but not like he had before. He was overwhelmed by something much warmer, gentler, kinder.Â
âIâll find you,â Harry reminded him, the words whispered into Louisâ hair. âEven in those nightmares.âÂ
Inhaling deeply, Louis let go, knowing that Harry was right.Â
Even if the nightmares were coming back, Harry was going to be there, too, pulling Louis into his reality. He was going to hold Louis and let him be weak in the safety of their home. Harry was going to be there when Louis got haunted by the past he couldnât shake.Â
âIâll find you,â Harry repeated, feathery touches running over Louisâ body as morning stirred outside.Â
Louis sighed quietly, deciding that they could stay like that for just a little longer.Â
