Steven T Seagle is going to be writing issues #4 and #5 and hinted at Gwen getting more focus, with him saying "...you don't need everything that Ben has to be smart and successful and powerful..My story is definitely about that". What’s exciting is that out of all the characters in the franchise, Seagle’s favorite is Gwen. On top of that, he wrote Tough Luck.
Instead of being just the damsel in distress like when Zombozo debuted in the show, she’s likely to play a part in defeating him, especially since Ben doesn’t have ghostfreak. This might sound far fetched, but she could even be getting magic or is at least getting to that point based on the info given by Joe Casey about the sixth issue.
“As we speak, I’m hard at work writing the script for BEN 10 #6, which happens to introduce a classic villain who I’m assuming hardcore BEN 10 fans already know very well. But they’ve never seen him like this, I guarantee it. All I’m willing to say here… is that it’s gonna be magical.”
That sounds like Hex is making a comeback.
With the way Max has been handled in the issue just released, and is said to be handled in the next one, he’s getting a decent amount of focus. So it would make sense the issues afterwards do the same with Gwen. I think the reboot does a lot of things very well, even better than prime franchise, but Max and Gwen were severely mishandled there. Going off of what has been said I’m predicting the comic is going to go the opposite direction, and speed run them using their abilities so they can be on the front lines with Ben. I would completely be here for it.
