This weekend I attended the 3rd annual Hamilton Flea. Â I loved the location because it was a block from my house! Â $2 to get in was a steal to wander around this photographers daydream! Â I loved the floral truck #petal2themetal parked right inside the entrance and a highlight was #luvBecky baking co. Â I love to see people doing their creative things! Â My friend Megan wrangled in all the tikes with Little Makers crafts which were pretty darn cute! Â I ended up buying a print from my friend Sara #allsortspress and a set of bronze clamshell book ends from #hootfurnishing. Â Already looking forward to next year...
Just found my new favourite hang out spot in T.O. Odin cafe and bar! ( odinhus ) I have a few more pics, but I am having trouble figuring out how to post them in the right orientation. (Just getting back into blogging/technology, it is like riding a bike after 15 years, kind of rocky...) I used to work beside the brother cafe "Thor". The owners were super cool and it was a great addition to my neighbourhood. Wishing I lived in Corktown right now! This place reminds me that details do matter and make ALL the difference. My favourite thing about this place? The cement bars- they look awesome and are extreemly functional. I feel inspired.
Long time no write...  So much is going on between my ears right now I can barely keep up!  A few things worth mentioning: I am starting a business with my pal Megan Sonke (more details to unfold as they are ironed out), I am setting up studio workshops for UDJ?, Mehker and The WorkshopCat, I am working on a bunch of cool things in my studio and I have a fun date for Valentines day! My mission this month is to finish my website ASAP - sell some stuff I have made and update my blog more regularly.  I hope you are staying warm - it was pretty brutal out there today...-25 degrees?  WTF?!
So I came across this cute picture that someone had made of their family in mini cross stitch form. Â I was inspired to try it myself. Â I was heading to my friend Christina's house for a house warming party and thought it would be fun to give her something unique and personal. Â I had drawn out her, her boyfriend Jon and their cat Baloo - what seemed like a fair size - thinking they would turn out about 3-4" tall finished. Â Well, not surprisingly, my math skills are weak and they turned out less than an inch high. Â Oh well! They are still pretty cute!
I am now working on creating portraits of Lee, Me, our cat Munster and our pug Cookie for a gallery wall I am creating going up our stairs. Â I didn't draw Lee out on paper before hand - just winging it as I go. Â His neck it really long and he resembles Mr.T so far. Â I have more details to finish and he will hopefully have the essence of Lee embodied in fibre form.
I am curious to see the rest of my family in fibre form and am thinking this might be great gifts for my friends for xmas. Â

Today my workplace issued a 30 day - get your life in balance challenge. Â Some of the girls are doing yoga for 30 days, some are making healthy dinners. Â I have chose to walk for an hour. Â I used to walk all the time, but since moving, I haven't really done much as I am a bit unsure about the safety of my new location. Â
I am also getting pumped to start running again. Â It has been a while.... Â I am looking into what new gear is out there. Â I like running at night and it is starting to get cold out, so I am looking for things to keep me warm, but still allow for optimal movement. Â
I worked in sport stores for years, but never took full advantage of shopping there with a discount. Having to pay the full retail price for these things kills me a little inside. Â Oh well!
I took a long walk by myself this evening down by the harbour. Â It was void of human life which was serene. Â I watched the seagulls swoop over my head and dive into the water effortlessly. Â The sail boats off in the distance looked like they were performing a dance under the pinky-grey clouds. Â This picture is an abstract of a very dynamic sculpture on the walk around the bay. Â I could spend the rest of my life down there. Â One day... Â

This work is by Roger Heaton depicting his version of an aura migrane, which I had the unpleasant experience of this morning.  Scary and confusing, an aura migrane makes part of your vision blurry  (or non existent) for a period of time, followed by an intense long lasting headache.  BOOOO.  There is a first time for everything. Â
These were some of the prettiest chocolates that I have come across in a long time. Â Dusted with gold and with a heavy zen vibe - I fell in love with these little gems and am having a hard time taste testing because I want to just keep them on a shelf to look at. Â To be honest, I don't remember the flavours! Â Â
The little shop was a delight for the eyes...and taste buds. It was called Sweet Olenkas and was located on Queen Street West in Toronto. Â I was chatting with the shop keeper and she explained that they have so many moulds they needed to get a separate storage location just for them! Â Apparently this was just a pop up location until Christmas. I will be back to pick up some sweets for my friends and family for the holidays. Â
Things must get ugly before they gets beautiful...said someone famous at some point...I think?
Thousands of staples removed - many blisters later - I am almost at the refinishing stage of the frame. Â As much labour as this project has proven itself to be, I am loving every second of it. Â
Next step- remove the webbing and springs, sand, then begin the rebuild - I need to acquire a few new tools- YEAH!! Â Can't wait!
In the middle of a reupholstery job. Â Step 1: rip the gross old fabric and insides off of the frame. Â Time consuming, yes, however the end product will be fully worth it. Â I found this old wing back chair at the curb. Â It has lived outside on my deck for the past 2 months and has seen all sorts of weather. (not advised by pros, however I was afraid to bring it in the house, not knowing what little critters were living deep down inside) It is going to need a lot of TLC. Â More progress pictures to follow. Â
A brief visit in Toronto reminds me how alive a city really feels. Â So many people, personalities and colours. Â
