Summary: This takes place in Alexandria, Negan has been given his own house as he’s been on good behaviour for about a year. After 6 years in his cell you are starting to get to know him better and you try and get Daryl to see him differently too as he’s your best friend.

You lift your hair in your hands to tie it in a messy ponytail before reaching for your baggy jacket and throwing it on as you walk out the door. You're trying to scrunch up the sleeves so they aren’t hanging over your hands when you bump into a broad hard chest “oh I’m so sorry I wasn’t looking where I was going” you look up and meet Negan's eyes as he looks down watching you fiddle with your sleeves. “Isn’t that jacket not a bit big for you darlin” he sniggers watching you get all worked up over your sleeve when he reaches down and tucks them up your arm so your hands are now on show. As he moves his hands his fingers brush against your skin and the contact sends shivers down your spine. “Thanks” you say quickly and move your hands away when you hear Daryl shout your name as you turn from Negan and run over to him jumping into his arms for a hug while Negan watches from a distance. “You were gone for so long” you say as Daryl lifts you from the floor hugging you back “sorry the run took longer than I thought it would but I’m back now how are ya” he says lowering you back to floor. You look at him you guys have been best friends for a while now but things seem to be changing lately more contact, lingering stares, just a different feeling. “You in there ya staring” Daryl says waving a hand in front of your face you feel the heat rise to your face in embarrassment as you look away and laugh at yourself “I’m sorry I zoned out” you say smiling at him and he laughs you grab Daryl’s hand “come let’s go by the lake I have a surprise” he laughs as you drag him toward the lake “woman I’m comin no need ta drag me” he laughs out as you turn and drag him more. You get to the lake and there’s a blanket and a basket of food sitting on top “SURPRISE” you shout as your hold your arms out to the blanket and basket “wow what’s all this about” he says sitting down on the blanket as others come over and join you “well I wanted to have a picnic and I invited the gang to have a picnic round the lake” you say as the rest of group come and sit. You are all laughing and joking around with each other. “PIGGYBACK RACE” Daryl shouts and reaches for your hand. You stand up and so do some of the kids and adults as we all get ready for the race. You jump on to Daryl’s back and he grips your legs. You feel his muscles flex under your hands as you hold on to his shoulders “ready set go!!” You hear Carol shout and Daryl’s off with you on his back unfortunately you lost to Judith and RJ but Daryl doesn’t put you down you move your hands around him as he walks around spinning every now and then making you both laugh when you catch a glimpse of Negan watching you from his porch with a smile on his face. Daryl lowers you and you climb off his back as you get back to the group. “Tonight there’s going to be a party outside on the green, tell others we want to have a nice party with everyone” Carol says to the group you smile, you've not been to a party since before the fall of the world and can’t wait to dress up and have a fun night.

You're getting ready in your house. You've picked out a little red dress, black heels and curled your hair. You step outside when you look over towards Negan’s place ‘I bet no one’s invited him’ you say to yourself and walk down your porch and across to his place and knock on the door. You wait and his door opens and he looks at you surprised your at his door “hi I wanted to come over and say that there’s a party on the green tonight and wondered if you wanted to come” you smile as he locks eyes with you “I.. um yes that would be nice” he stumbles over his words as he’s looking at you. You go to turn to walk down his porch “hey wait um.. never mind” he closes his eyes and looks down to the floor embarrassed because he can’t get his words out “I’ll wait for you and we can turn up together” I say smiling at him as he opens the door more and gestures for you to come in. His house still looks a bit dusty since being empty for so long and you wonder around looking at the house. Negan’s been upstairs for about 10 minutes when he comes down the stairs you are looking out the window when he comes beside you “I hope I look alright” he says stepping back so you can get a full view of him you walk towards him and look up at his collar that was sticking up “can I fix your collar it’s sticking up” you smile when he nods and your hands move up to his collar. While folding it down your hands are either side of his neck and you're on your tippy toes as he’s much taller than you even in heels when you wobble slightly you feel his hands touch your waist to steady you. You move back quickly and his hands fall from your waist “all done we should go now” you say quickly after feeling his hands on your waist sent bolts of electricity through your body, you move to the door and start to open it “sorry I should have asked before touching you” Negan says looking down at his shoes and running a nervous hand over the back of his neck you turn and look at him “it’s ok. Are you ready to go” you say as he walks towards you and the door. You can see his uneasiness about going tonight so you slide your arm though his and he smiles down at you as you close the door of his house. You walk to the party and you lock eyes with Daryl his eyes travel your body and he smiles then he looks beside you to see who your linked arms with and he strides over. “Get off her” he shouts at Negan you remove your arm from Negan’s as Daryl gets closer so you put your hand on his chest you can feel his heart beating fast and the anger swelling over his face “hey Daryl breathe look at me” his eyes are locked on Negan so you take your hand and reach up to Daryl’s face and make him look at you “hey calm down I invited him Daryl” you say looking into his eyes your eyes are soft gentle “why’d ya invite him” he tried sounding angry at you but he couldn’t do that he could never be angry at you. You take Daryl’s hand in yours “he’s not the same person he was Daryl we have to accept that he’s here and he’s actually doing stuff for the community we need to allow him to show himself who he is not who he was” his eyes are looking between your eyes and your hand that’s still holding his as he watches you look at Negan and smile and a smile appears on his face. “Ugh woman you really do make me crazy” Daryl says looking at you as you take your hand from his “please try and get along for me” you smile and walk away towards the girls dancing and Rosita takes your hands and pulls you into dance. Daryl and Negan stand there watching you from the crowd “I can see what ya doing Negan ya betta stop she’s too good for ya hell she’s too good for me” Daryl says looking at Negan who’s eyes haven’t faltered off you.

You and Rosita are dancing you’ve never had so much fun when you spot Eugine watching her “Ro, Euginehas been watching you all night because you look so good” I say laughing as she turns to look but he’s turned so quickly so she doesn’t see he nearly falls and you look at each other and laugh hysterically “I’m going to get a drink” Rosita says before walking away you carry on dancing with others till you feel a hand touch your shoulder and you turn to see Negan “hi are you ok” you say smiling at him as he smiles back at you “yeah I just wanted to see if you wanted to dance with me?” he says smiling. You can hear the confidence in his tone which has changed from earlier and look at his hand and he’s holding a beer “sure why not” you take his hand as he puts down his beer and you start dancing. He twirls you round and you interlock fingers and it’s like his hands were made for yours. You continue dancing to the music your both smiling at each other “would you like a drink” he says leaning close to your ear so you can hear him and his breath is hot on your ear giving you goosebumps “I would love one” you say leaning up to his ear a smirk appears across his face feeling you this close to him as his removes his fingers from yours leaving to go get you a drink. You stand by the edge of where people are dancing and watch them when you feel arms snake around your waist and a head rests on your shoulder. You know it’s Daryl because of the way his arms feel around your body “ya havin a good time beautiful?” you can smell the alcohol in his breath and you turn in his arms facing him you move your hand to his face moving your fingers delicately over his it getting hair off it “yeah I am are you? How much have you had to drink?” Concern lingers in your tone and he lifts a hand and touches your face he’s gentle but you can see he’s very drunk “I ain’t… ha..d that much ta drink” he says slurring words as he reaches for his beer and you grab his hand “wat ya doing woman” he hits your hand away from his and takes a long sip of his beer you step away from him and he watches “you’ve had enough of that your drunk” you say as you reach up to try and take the bottle again but he pushes you hard and you fall against the concrete floor. “What the fuck is wrong with you Daryl” hurt fills your voice as someone helps you up “let’s go get that cleaned up” they say and you know it’s Negan voice and you look down to see you’ve cut your arm on the floor you start to walk away with Negan when you feel Negan’s arm grabbed and pulled away from you “get ya hands off her” Daryl growls at Negan pushing him away from you “calm yourself I’m taking her to go get cleaned up since you pushed her and she cut her arm man” Negan steps away not interacting with drunk Daryl as Carol steps in and grabs ahold of Daryl and nods to Negan and he takes you away to sort out your arm.

The party now over everyone is returning to their homes and Negan walks you to your porch “let me sort it for you it will need a clean and a bandage on it” you smile up at Negan as you go in and retrieve all the items he needs before returning to the porch. Negan is sitting on a chair on your porch looking at the sky when he hears you come out the door and sit beside him and hand him the stuff. He pulls your arm gently toward him and you rest your hand on his leg as he examines your arm “it looks like you cut it on a rock or something sharp it’s not deep but it will take about a week or two to fully heal” he says while wetting a cloth to clean it. He presses it gently to your skin when pain hits you “ow” you cry out you don’t realise your hand is gripping at his shirt and your eyes are scrunched together “I’m sorry I don’t mean to hurt” he says finishing up wiping your arm and putting the bandage round it. You're still gripping his shirt when your eyes meet his “thank you for tonight and sorting out my arm. I don't know why he got like that. I've never seen him act like that before I’m sorry” you say apologetically, taking your arm away from him. He looks at you and smiles “hey darlin you have nothing to be sorry for it’s not your fault this happened” he says taking your hands into his to comfort you, you lean your head on to his shoulder and he kisses your head. His thumb is brushing over your hand and his head resting on yours you can’t help but lean in a little closer his warmth consuming you sending shivers over your body and he notices you shiver “are you cold? You should go inside and get comfortable and relax for the rest of the evening” he says standing and walking you over to your door “thank you” you say and lean up and kiss his cheek and smile. He looks down at you and smiles “goodnight you looked beautiful tonight” he smiles and watches you walk into your house and stand by the open door “goodnight Negan” you say as your eyes scan over him one more time before he turns and walks towards his house and you close your door.

The next morning you throw on a tank top some shots and your boots throw your hair into a messy bun and head out the door to go on a run with Rosita. As you're walking to meet her Daryl spots you and comes over. He's smiling at you but your face is sour “wats up with you why ya lookin so moody and wat the hell happened to ya arm”. You look him in the eyes and can see he clearly can’t remember what he did to you last night “you are what happened you got drunk and I tried to stop you drinking more and you pushed me and I cut my arm” you say with a sour tone you watch as his face drops and he looks so upset with himself cursing at himself under his breath “I… i’m so sorry I never meant to hurt you. I felt hurt you were with him” he says reaching for your hand but you move it away and his eyes start to glaze over “I’m late I need to meet Rosita for a run I’ll be back later” you say and then walk away.

You angrily throw stuff into your backpack and try not to think about last night when you hear glass shatter, you look at Rosita and you both grab your knife’s from your holsters. After taking out the few walkers you are out for another few more hours then return to Alexandria. You're walking to drop your stuff you’ve gathered to the right places when Carol appears next to you “hey did you have a good run” she says looking at you and all the supplies as she opens one of the doors for you to walk into the pantry. “Yeah it was a good run we got a lot of stuff” you smile at her and she helps you put it away “so how are you an Daryl after last night I’ve never seen him get like that before” she says looking at you and you can see the concern in her eyes “he couldn’t even remember but when I spoke to him today he said he got drunk because he was hurt seeing me with Negan” you say and look down and sigh “all I wanted to do was to allow people see a different side to Negan” you feel tears swell in your eyes and Carol walks over and hugs you. “He’s just jealous, he doesn’t like Negan and seeing you with him when he likes you just made him sad” she says, patting your back. You pull back and look at her “he likes me” you say confusion coating your voice. She looks up and nods and you finish putting the stuff away, once your done you and Carol head to the door “thanks for all the help Carol” you say while giving her a hug “don’t let him know I’ve told you he wants to tell you he’s just nervous about ruining things between you guys” she says pulling back from the hug and turning to walk away. Your walking to your house when you hear someone call your name and you turn to them and it’s Negan “hey I wanted to ask how your arm was today” he says smiling down at you “hi Negan it’s feeling good I should probably go get the bandage change because of doing the run today” you say looking down at the dirty bandage. When you look back at Negan he’s looking at your arm “I can do it quickly if you want” he says still looking at your arm you nod and head towards your porch and he takes a seat on the couch on your porch “let me have a quick shower and then we can sort it out. You can wait out here if you like” you say looking at him when he nods in response as you start to walk in the house and stop at the door “let me get you a drink what would you like?” You say smiling at him “just some water if you don’t mind darlin” he says watching disappear into your house coming back out with a glass of water. You hand it to him and head inside.

You’ve been about 10 minutes in the shower when you step out and wrap the towel around you and head to your room and throw on some clothes. You leave your hair down so it can dry and you walk out your door to your porch. Negan watches you walk over your wet hair dripping onto the porch floor, you hand him the stuff for your arm and sit down next to him as he takes your arm like last night. He cleans it and wraps its again and you watch and study his face while he does it and smile when he looks up and catches you looking at him “do I have something on my face” he jokes and you laugh “no I was just watching you” you say and immediately feel embarrassed for what just came out your mouth and mutter it to yourself. When you look up he laughs “well shit, that didn’t come out right now did it darlin, if you like the view so much I can give you a picture” he says laughing and you laugh back and playfully hit him on the shoulder and smile “I’m not sure what i was trying to say” you smile and he looks at you fully and leans to your ear “I like the view of you” he says while leaning back and watching your face turn red. You and Negan are laughing and making jokes with each other when you hear the creek of one of your porch steps when someone clears their throat and you turn to see it’s Daryl “sorry for interrupting I’ll just go” he says turning and walking away, you stand abruptly “Daryl wait” you say running after him and grab his hand and he turns to look at you “Daryl can we talk” you say with a small smile and he hug you “m’sorry for wat I did ta ya I never wanted ta hurt ya never” he says burying his face into the crook of your neck as he holds you close. “It’s ok Daryl I know you never meant to hurt me but you can’t get like that because i decided to get to know Negan it’s not fair” you say and he looks down when you look over to your porch Negan is walking away. Daryl takes your hand and looks at your eyes “m’sorry I just care about ya so damn much” you wrap your arms around his waist hugging him you can feel how awful he feels about last night.

Two weeks later you’ve been spending time with Negan and getting to know him. You spent a lot of time with Daryl too. Today you're going on a run with Negan and it’s your first time going outside the walls with him. When he was allowed out his cell to help out trying to prove he could be let out for good you and him would work together but you didn’t really talk much just glances here and there. But he’s different now and you could tell that and others were seeing it too everyone but Daryl. You put on a tank top and a pair of black cargo shorts that didn’t hide much to the imagination but it was hot today so you didn’t care. You walked downstairs putting your hair in a bun and putting on your boots by your door before grabbing your pack and leaving the house. Negan was waiting outside for you “hey darlin you ready to go” he says as he smiles at you. Negan has always called you darling and it’s something you’ve got used to and like hearing him say. “Yeah I’m ready” you say walking down the stairs of your porch. You're walking side by side with Negan heading to the gate when a shout erupts being you “hey wait” you turn and it's Daryl running over “I wanted ta say bye before ya left and that I’ll see ya later” he says smiling. You stand on your tiptoes and kiss his cheek “I’ll be back soon see you later” you say smiling back as you turn back to Negan.

You and Negan have been scanning and searching houses and buildings for a few hours. You found a house that you're looking for though you and Negan split up in the house to search quicker when you hear him talking to someone so you quietly walk to where he is when you spot him through a barely open door. You stand out there silent listening to what he’s saying when you peek through the door and see it’s one of his old sanctuary people. “Shut the fuck up shes downstairs, I’m only earning their trust so I can take it over I ain’t being no ones bitch” you hear Negan say to the guy you feel you heart drop and go to walk away when you step on a creaky board “fuck” you curse unde your breath. You hear Negan coming towards the door so you make a run back to the kitchen and pretend to be looking through cabinets you’ve already searched “hey darlin find anything” you hear Negan say from behind you. The floor creaks as he moves towards you but you eyes stay fixed on the empty cabinet you’re so angry but sad at the same time that you feel a stray tear escape you when he touches your shoulder “get off me” you say with a harsh tone and turn to face him and push him away from you “get away from me Negan” you say with anger filling your voice and more tears fall. “Darlin what’s going on, why are you crying” he says his eyes fixed on yours “I’m only earning their trust so I can take it over” you repeat his words from a few minutes ago and his eyes drop to the floor “yeah I heard everything, you’re an asshole why did I ever believe you could change you still the same Negan who killed my friends. This ‘friendship’ between us was all fake, just a ploy to make me trust you. God I’m so stupid I should have listened to everyone especially Daryl when they said someone like you could never change” as you say this tears are streaming down your face. “It was never fake, it was never a ploy for you to trust me and I have changed I changed for you because I care about you and I want to stay wherever you are” he yells back and steps closer to you until your trapped between him and the counter “I said them things to make him leave I don’t want to take over your home I want to live in it with you” he says as tears well in his eyes. “How can I trust you that your telling me the truth and not just lying to my face Negan” you say hurt laced in your voice as you look in his eyes when he takes your face in his hands “because I never want to lie to you, because you’ve changed me, I want to be better for you” he says still holding your face when he leans down and kisses you. The kiss is passionate and you lean into it wrapping your hands around the back neck when you both pull back you look at him “I… um we need to get back Daryl will wonder where we are with how long we’ve been gone” you say as you watch his expression change “I just kissed you and your thinking about Daryl, I care about you and show you how much you mean to me and you bring him up” he says his tone harsh and you look at him and move away from him “I never said I didn’t care about you Negan but you randomly kissed me. I care about you I really do but I also care a lot about Daryl and I don’t know what I feel. I just think we should go back” you say walking to the door. The walk back was long and quiet and when you got back you dropped off the supplies and went to your house to shower and read your book on the porch to take your mind off what happened and what you're going to do.

You and Daryl follow the RV to the farm when you are met by Lori, Shane and Rick. Rick’s covered in blood and has his arm tight around Lori you run over to them and hug them “how is he” you say concern pouring from your words, Carl has been like a little brother to you since you joined you just got on like siblings. Lori and Rick look at you with their eyes red and swollen “he’s in a critical state right now we have to wait and see if he wakes up and if the surgery was successful” Rick says pulling Lori in closer. You see people you don’t recognise emerge from the door to the farmhouse at this point the whole group is by the farmhouse and we all look up and then back to Rick “this is Hershel and his family. Annette Hershel’s wife, their two daughters Maggie and Beth and their son Shawn they are letting us stay here till Carl recovers”. You look up at Hershel who’s stood in the doorway in a protective manner “welcome, you can make camp out here and you can have food and water from the well over there. If you need anything you can talk to me or my family” he says to the group. You look at Lori and Rick “can I see him” your eyes slightly damp as tears begin to swell in your eyes “of course” Lori takes your hand and takes you inside to where Carl is and walks out giving you privacy. You watch his chest rise and fall softly and take his hand in yours “you better get better you hear me, you're like a little brother to me and i…” you are cut off by your breath becoming heavy as tears pour from your eyes like a waterfall. You sit there for a moment trying to calm yourself “you can’t leave, not like this” you say while taking your hand out of his and placing it gently on the bed by his side and walking to leave the room. As you walk out the room you are greeted by Beth. She looks at you and takes your hand “come outside and get some fresh air. We are cooking dinner for you all tonight” she says as she guides you outside to the rest of your group. When you are outside Daryl is beside you in a hurry and you look up at him his sympathetic eyes meet your red, damp eyes and he pulls you into his arms, you wrap your arms around his waist crying into his shirt his hands on your back rubbing small circles “shh darlin slow ya breathing” he says worry in his voice when he realises your breath isn’t steadying. You can feel your heart pounding in your chest, your legs are starting to feel weak, you can’t breathe. “Dar” darkness consumes you, loud piercing rings feel your ears, your body feels limp thoughts, feelings everything is gone.

You wake up blinking rapidly like you’ve had your eyes open for hours but you haven't. You were gone, you thought you were dead, everything was gone. “Hershel she’s awake” you hear though foggy hearing it’s like you're underwater. You open your eyes fully, finally taking in what’s around you a little room, a bookcase, shelves scanning the room until your eyes land on him “darlin can ya hear me” you nod and squeeze his hand and he lightly squeezes yours. The door opens and Hershel walks through with a glass of water. He sits on the chair by the bed putting the glass on the side and takes your hand putting two fingers to your wrist checking the pace of your pulse “well young lady you gave us all quite the scare i think you had a panic attack but you should be ok drink this water and then Daryl should be able to help you downstairs” he says rising for the chair and walking toward the door “make sure she takes her time coming down Daryl she could still feel a bit weak she’s been out about and hour” Daryl nods his head and Hershel takes his leave closing the door behind him. Daryl takes the seat next to you again, giving you the glass as you take small sips. “Daryl I’m sorry” you say in a small voice “it’s ok darlin no need ta say sorry” he says watching you take sips of the water scanning over you making sure you were ok. “I think I’m ready to go downstairs now” you say slowly moving your legs off the bed. Daryl take your hands and helps you up wrapping a hand around your waist as he opens the door and leads you downstairs to the rest of the group. When you are finally down the stairs Carol rushes over and hugs you tight “are you ok Daryl was a mess when you passed out in his arms, he never left you once” she says pulling away and looking at you. The rest of the group look over to you and smile “I’m ok sorry for worrying everyone even more than they already were” you say as Daryl and Carol walk you over to the rest of the group. You all eat dinner and enjoy conversation, you start to get to know the Green family and their experience so far with the end of the world.

A week has passed since you and the group got to the farm, Carl has been in and out of it for the past 2 days but he’s resting a lot to regain his energy and strength back. The group has been helping the Green family with cooking, cleaning, laundry, and doing runs for supplies.

You slow to a walk when you see her being sick in a bush quietly walking up behind her “Lori” you say as she quickly turns around “I’m fine” she blurts out as she looks at you she can see the confusion flicker over your face “oh ok i just wanted to check you were ok Lori, I’ll leave sorry for disturbing you” you look down and walk away back to Maggie. It’s been a few more days and Carl is finally up and on his feet Hershel has allowed us to stay on the farm as long as we continue to help out. Everyone seems happy about that except for two people in the group Shane and Andrea who think we should leave and head to our destination we were planning on going to. You and Maggie have become close and spend all day together. Daryl comes over regularly to plant kisses on your lips and to give you hugs while you do stuff and Glenn spectates almost like he’s taking notes on what to do. “Glenn are you taking notes so you can do this to Maggie” you and Daryl laugh as you say this when both Glenn and Maggie turn bright red. “What um no i'm just looking at you two you are so happy together. I’m um just being a supportive friend” Glenn tries to say in a convincing tone. “Everyone knows ya like each other get on with it” Daryl says from behind me. Maggie walks over to Glenn “come on let’s go for our supply run” they start to walk to the truck when Daryl whistles you laugh “have fun you two don’t do anything I wouldn’t” you wink at them and the camp is in hysterical laughter as they get in the truck. Glenn and Maggie return a few hours later and they are glowing Maggie makes her way to you and drags you away “oi you stealing my gurl Maggie” Daryl says as Maggie drags you into the house “yes she mine” she says laughing. We are sitting on Maggie's bed “me and Glenn did it on the supply run” your jaw drops as she tells you all the details on the events that happened “FINALLY, took you guys long enough” you blurt out laughing.

About 2 weeks later Shane caused issues and opened the barn that was full of walkers and the night was spent fighting for your lives. Most of the group got away but a few didn’t. The group found Sofia in the barn and decided it was best to leave as it was not safe on the farm anymore. The group left in search of a new place to call home. You and Daryl were just happy to have made it out alive together.

I’m also planning to do some the maze runner fanfics because i love the maze runner so if any of you have any preference on what to start with it would be character x reader or we can do a love triangle so let me know!!

Daryl: “OLD!!!” Gurl did ya just call me old he says as he strides over to you picking you up and throwing you over his shoulder “I’ll show ya that I’m not that old”.

Y/N: “Daryl put me down” you say laughing as you playfully tap his back.

Daryl: “nope yer comin with me”.
