Appicide: When a user of your application deletes your app from their phone. Sounds like a big problem, right? Luckily there are several things you can do to prevent this - not the least of which are making sure you know your target market in the first place. Then of course marketing and catering updates and iterations to that market. And finally, make it fun and easy to use. No one wants to kill the 'fun' one. Good article!
"SoLoMo." Say that 10 times real fast. Well, it certainly isn’t the easiest catch phrase to latch onto but it has its good qualities. Like the fact that it integrates Social - Local - and Mobile. And the part where a lot (if not most) of the content is user driven on these platforms. Mobile marketing is starting to become useful…finally! What do you think? Would you snap a pic to get a discount?

You looking for some meat?
SO one of my favorite campaigns out right now is AppleGate Farms. In it there is a strangely childlike muscle bound hunk with a foreign accent who innocently seems to simultaneously hit on and endear a somewhat shaken mother. The hilarious script is only fully realized after working thru what exactly is taking place. Questions like, "Why is this guy sitting in her dining room? And, how did they make his outfit barely cover his nipples?" are replaced by laughter as the last little clever twist in each commercial is revealed. Not only do I throughly enjoy watching these commercials but I went out and bought several packages of AppleGate Farms products last week. I don't like hormones in my meat but I will definitely keep watching Mr. Muscle Cow in my house.
It a Friday at midnight and I'm still engrossed in website layout!
What makes Snapchat addicting? Could we use that for better advertising?
Ding ding! Oh hey, its Jarred. Haven't heard from him in a while I think. I reach for my phone to check the text message. "Hey! Add me on Snapchat!" Oh lord, its that sexting app again. And now my friends are on it? No thanks.
Fast forward, later that same day...Emily and I are sitting on the McLaughlins patio and her phone is going crazy. Â Snapchat sucks her in. We spent the next hour sending and receiving picture messages that lasted 2-10 seconds. Nothing was dirty. Nothing was inappropriate. (Well, some could argue me smashing donut balls into her face during a 5 second video we made somewhat close.) It was completely addicting.Â
There is something about knowing you only have a limited amount of time to receive the message before it disappears that is riveting. In a world where ADD is the norm, Snapchat has managed to force us to give something our undivided attention or you miss out. Forever. No repeats. No do overs.Â
Its an interesting concept and a gigantic feat to accomplish. Can't help but wonder, what if there was a way to harness that virility and engage users to help create massive amounts of 2-10 second pieces of disappearing content for advertisements across a similar platform? If it came from us, would it work? I know I would watch a tv commercial that featured a string of people randomly trying to make a 10 sec advertisement. It would be hilarious.Â
