Only when something moved in his peripheral vision did Wesker's attention waver, gaze sliding down to the other one's arm, just barely, for a split second witnessing the mold acting seemingly on its own — like as not a stress-response that his appearance had caused.
Wesker refrained from commenting on it, instead remaining silent after his initial words, allowing Winters to adjust to the situation at hand. He might be someone who cared little about other people, but he was not stupid enough to blow his made up persona wide open while he was standing right next to him. In fact, doing such would only put himself in a position where he would be sure to be investigated more closely, and that was something Wesker definitely did not need nor want.
A sharp nod was all the tall blond had for Ethan as the man turned his back so as to bring his affairs in order and allow the both of them to exchange words away from prying eyes — which turned out to be a mere parking lot, which decidedly was not what Wesker had hoped for.
Alas, times where what they where, and as such he was in no position to complain currently.
Instead, he allowed himself to feel into their connection through the mold a little further, experiencing the response of the mutamycede inside another being only for the second time in his comparatively new life.
The only other time had been when he had been staking out the Baker estate many years ago, feeling the molded creatures — and Evelyn — react to his presence on the outskirts of the area.
Pulled from his ponderings as Winters spoke again, one slim brow lifted in mild surprise as he was told the other knew who he was.
"Oh?" He hummed, before the corners of his mouth curled ever so slightly.
In a way, the other was correct, he surmised. After all, he had played a part in supplying The Connections with mold samples that ultimately had been used to create the molded and, conclusively, mutated the Bakers.
"How is dear Chris, anyway? Still following in my footsteps as a captain?"
The mention of Chris outwardly seemed to do nothing to him, though privately, he could feel the old sting that he had never truly been able to shake from his being.
"And yet I am the reason you're still standing here, too," he finally replied to the accusations, head canted, as he watched the other man's reaction closely.
The knowledge of his research into anti-BOW weaponry likely had not made the rounds as much as his misdeeds had, but he didn't necessarily care about that. If anything, other people's opinions had always been nothing but background noise to Wesker.
Arms came up to cross over his chest as he tipped one shoulder in a one-sided shrug when Winters asked about the mold inside of him.
"A voluntary infection, if you will," he offered, figuring that it might help throwing out a proverbial hook to further fan any possible curiosity — not that he would answer any and all questions.
Furthermore, he was not yet certain whether the other man was even able to help him out in his endeavor. But he would likely see about that soon.
