The Mechageddon Project

The previous installer turned out to be faulty.  So here's a different installer that should work this time.

So now nothing is stopping you from trying out the fruit of our labors.  So what are you waiting for?  Click the link and get the game!!

Why 'sorta'? Because we (team Gemini Aegis) are not done with this project yet. Think of this as a "Golden - Beta" release.

More updates completed in the project.  The next step, in addition to playtesting, is to begin the creation of a 4th AI.  Not going to reveal any details as to what this detail is (if Ellis or Curtis wish to, they may), but it'll hopefully be a very enjoyable one.

Another progress video for this week's work on the Mechageddon project.  In addition to the updates done within the game, we are beginning to look into implementing Xbox Controller input, mainly for the port for Xbox Live Arcade.  Stay tuned for more updates.

To anyone who is reading this blog, Hello! I'm the "Art Director", if you want to call it that, of The Mechageddon Project. You can call me Ellis or Eli. Either one I'm fine with. I'm taking this time to update some of the in-game photos that Curtis placed on the blog. The last picture we had up only showed the player as a black square, towers as red and blue circles and enemies a still square images. Well here is an updated look at the game:

Hey guys, we've been on spring break for the past week (did I mention this game is a college project?), so we're not working as intensively on game as we have been in the past few weeks.

The second half of the project starts in early May, where we will be working toward the final product. We're at the alpha stage right now, and in two months we should be ready to release the game (we better be at least).

When I can manage to get the right software I'll make a video and upload it to this blog to show you all where we are with the game at this moment (probably make a youtube account at the same time).

Currently, we've got the tower shooting, the player avatar shooting, enemies spawning and moving, and the sprites are moving as they should (although we haven't put them into the main code yet).

However, at this point the enemies can only be killed the bullets from the player avatar, but not the bullets from towers. There is also no collision between the towers themselves and the enemies (the enemies just go right through them)

The blue and red dots are towers. The little white dots are the bullets from the towers.

While we continue to work on the game, I though I'd leave you with what might end up being the logo you see in the opening credits when the game starts.

today I am going to share how we plan to work out the height of our sprites in the game. As you can see from the image below, the toasters will be the small sprite on the field, followed by the blenders, then the main character, and finally the refrigerators will be the biggest things in the game.

  A few announcements.

In the next few post I am going to be introducing you to the Mechageddon team members so you can finally put faces to our names and get to know us better.

Also, I won't be using this blog anymore. I am going to be created a new blog on tumblr. I'll be sure to provide the link to the new blog in my next (and final post) in this blog.

The blue bar represent where the player can move.

The green squares represent towers.

The red squares represent enemies .

We have to do a presentation tomorrow (today technically). It's basically a little update on how we are doing with the game.

So far we have enemies spawning, we can place towers onto the field, and we have a avatar that can shoot at the enemies.

What remains to be done?

We need to get the different guns working (two max), the towers (two again) and the enemy A.I.. The dreaded, DREADED A.I.

It's only a little frustrating because none of use have ever done any real A.I. before, but we'll figure it out, hopefully.

I really don't want to have dumb enemies just mindlessly walking from one end of the screen to the other....

Just wanted to share some of the cool concept art we've got from our artist is from St.Croix.

These are our three enemy types: Blenders, Toasters, and Refrigerators. We're thinking about putting wheels on the blenders though. We want them to move fast!

Welcome to the Mechaggedon Project!

Over the next couple weeks I will be using this blog to document the progress made on the game my two colleagues (Ellis and Diego) and myself (Curtis).

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where machines all over the planet have revolted against their human master. Their leader? A sentient toaster named Lord Master Toast, The Supreme! (See Below) You must do everything you can to defend what remains of the human race while you wait for rescue.
