Love this movie. I usually don't judgemovies by trailers, but when the trailers for "Logan" came out, I immediately lost interest in the movie. I thought it looked too depressing, and dark and sad just for the sake of being so. I ended up watching it on a whim, when it was in theaters, and I was proven completely wrong. It was somber and depressing at points, but only when it needed to be. It was mostly a really sweet film about Logan becoming a guardian to Laura. I think the R rating wasn't necessarily needed, I think it could have been just as good without the gore and needless cursing. Though the R rating probably helped the film's direction of being more about characters in more adult situations, compared to a PG-13 Wolverine film. TLDNR: With a well written, but ultimately underwhelming story, accompanied by fantastic art, i give this story a 6/10. "Daredevil: Running With the Devil" is a four part story from January to May 2017. It was written by Charles Soule, art by Ron Garney. The plot concerns how Matt Murdock was able to get the entire world to forget that he is Daredevil. It's told through flashback, as Matt tells the story in a confessional at a church. The Purple Man had resurfaced, and his kids, The Purple Children, come to the Man Without Fear to help in defeating him. I found the entire story well written, but I can't help that feel it was a bit longer than needed. I think this story could have been handled in just one or two issues, and a different story been used for the "Running With the Devil" banner to run with Kingpin, Bullseye, and Elektra. The entire plot felt a little padded out, needing to fill up four separate issues. That being said, train feature to this story, is Ron Garney's art. Especially the covers to issues 18 and 20. Keeping up on your comics is very important. This particular issue was in desperate need of a new board and bag, you can see the board has a mirror image bleeding onto it. Always remember to replace your bags and boards every five years, or so. Also, even though it doesn't seem correct, place the textured side of the board ON the comic book. Whenever you buy a comic book back issue, the best thing to do is to rebag and board as soon as youre able to. I always use regular sized 100% acid free bags. I just got done rererererereading the "modern classic", as the reviews call it, "Batman: Year One" by Frank Miller, art by David Muzzucchelli. It's a very good story. It originally ran in "Batman" vol. 1 #404-407. This is Frank Miller's follow up to "Batman: Dark Knight Returns", as an original for his version of Batman. Funny enough, as good as the Batman portion is, it focuses more on James Gordon's early days in the GCPD. I like that part much more. Catwoman's origin is in here, too, but similar to Miller's "Daredevil: Man Without Fear"'s handle of Elektra, and Kingpin, she feels tacked on. The artwork, here, is beautiful. David Muzzachelli is at the top of his game here. Thirty here is better than the team's previous endeavor, "Daredevil: Born Again", though that story is much better. I just finished "Batman: Dark Victory" by Jeoh Loeb, art by Tim Sale. This was very, very good. Probably just as good as the previous entry, "Batman: The Long Halloween". I'd say that first one is just a little bit better, since it had a better mystery, and left the identity of the killer a complete mystery, revealing at least 3 suspects in the end. This one has a definite killer, and, although he's barely in it, the story of Bruce Wayne adopting Dick Grayson..while not feeling forced, it didn't really add much to it until the end when Dick assumes his "Robin" identity. I really liked how Selina Kyle/Catwoman was used in this story. She alao leads into a side-sequel, "Catwoman: When in Rome", which I may read at some point. As I expected, the art, and writing was fantastic. This is interesting. In the movie, Raphael goes to see "Critters", and says "Where do they come up with this stuff?!". Wow. "Batman: The Long Halloween" is one of my favorite batman stories ever. And I'm sure the follow up, "Batman: Dark Victory", is a fine addition to the narrative. It's just kind of a dick move to reveal the answer to the main mystery of the first story on LITERALLY THE FIRST PANEL OF THE FIRST PAGE OF THE FIRST CHAPTER OF THE FOLLOW UP!! This wouldn't be as bad, though still bad, if this was called "Long Halloween II", or "The Longer Halloween"(title inspired by "Die Hard 2: Die Harder"), but the name is totally different, so, someone reading this first is spoiled the entire mystery. TLDNR: Jessica Jones is awesome! I just finished Netflix's "Jessica Jones", what can I say? Just like "Doctor Strange", Marvel Studios has made a screen adaptation of a character I had both lottle interest in, and didnt read much of. I knew who both characters were, and they popped up in other stories ive read, but never sought to look into them. The difference, besides one being a super adult themed series, and thebother a light hearted cosmic adventure, I'm REALLY interested in reading the series that Jessica is from.
