"How did I end up here..? I'll never get my portfolio done on time..." Somewhere in the whispering Meadow, a piece left unfinished, Supplies left on the grassy bed and the pages left to the wind, Somewhere else, a mind left wandering, Through a world she doesn't know, her search keeps following, A way to get home to the life she once knew, Why don't you join her on this journey, too?
'Dear Diary, of something troubling, I've been wracking my brain to get this project done. The final is in three days and as far as most eyes can see, I should and could be finished it, but I just can't help but feel that something is missing from it. I've drawn as close to the edge of the page and I've done enough research to give reason to everything I've created for the portfolio, but it still feels... empty. I'm planning on visiting a craft store later on to see if I can find anything I can add to it or even just to get any ideas... I really want to get a good grade so it has to be perfect. Oh well. I'll write again later. If I have the time.'
Walking through her quiet hometown was nothing new for Meadow. Her music blasted through the ears of her clinging-to-life headphones as she took in the evening scenery around her. The sun was beginning to set, she would need to be quick if she wanted to make it to the craft store in time. A child described as gifted through only her own doing, she had a feasting hunger for success and a greed for preciseness, especially when it came to her own hobbies, or in particular, her own creations. If one stroke of the paintbrush went wrong, in her own anger she would take to the canvas with scissors until she could not recognise where the mistake had been. Paper would be ripped and made into scraps for something new to be drawn behind the crooked lines. She despised any trace of her missteps or failures. 'They will never get me anywhere. Others look for what you have done, not what you haven't. I want to leave my mark on this world bright and bold.' Much was to be said for her academics, too. Though her practical skills could be described as mediocre at best, Meadow took pride in her knowledge and how well she had gotten used to picking it up. It seemed that she held her books as oysters, just something new for her to search for treasurable information within. Her teachers often commended her on it, yet their praise only pushed her further. For years she kept this up, learning more, revising the old, climbing her grades to a standard that soon became unbearable to sustain. Her art was her escape... yet it soon fell to her drive, and eventually- Snap. Nothing new, nothing bold, a pencil she could barely hold, Her ideas were empty, spilled like liquid gold, Her value lay before her, the wasted potential felt numbing, 'This was bound to happen, I should have seen this coming.' --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She reached the front of the petite shop as soon as the clock hit 6:34pm, her eyes met with the looming red 'Sorry, we're closed!' sign across the window of the door. A bitter sigh escaped her, a knowing that if she had managed to force herself out of the house sooner, she wouldn't be facing the repercussions now. Oh well, she would just have to try again tomorrow. There was no point in waiting around, the door wouldn't magically re-open and at this rate it would be even darker by the time she walked all the way home. The town was peaceful at night. No sounds of cars passing through the bustling streets or people filling the pathways. It was just her, the music that blared through the speakers, the stars beginning to appear more visible in the sky and the black carriage that was rapidly approaching her. Wait, the what?
