Health and legal professionals, as well as the public at large, tend to reject the notion that women can be sexually dangerous to their children based on the prevalent belief in mothers' (inherent, biological) role of nurturing and protecting role their young. Many continue to consider that parent-child sexual abuse is restricted to fathers and daughters. Some argued that the thought itself that a woman could sexually abuse a child is bizarre and disconnected from reality. When faced with evidence to the contrary, the general attitude is that there is no actual harm done since there is no male genital penetration. Others express compassion toward these mothers and minimize their behaviors in a merciful approach that considers them strange, mad, or survivors themselves.

I read someone on Reddit said sexual abuse by a mother towards a daughter can be like any sexual abuse in that it is not necessarily about sexual gratification but dominance and control. And she could carry that dominance from other aspects to the sexual realm.

And for me violation of a person sexually reaches a depth and breadth unreachable by other forms of abuse. That’s why she went there. She wanted the most bang for her bucks.
