Cambridge BioMarketing
This past January, M Doucette Production was hired to produce a photoshoot for Cambridge BioMarking, a full-service advertising and communications agency serving pharmaceutical and biotech clients. The concept was to shoot four models walking a tightrope up in the sky...easy enough, right? We produced the job in itâs entiretyâfrom finding the right photographer, and studio location, to casting models, sourcing hair/makeup and wardrobe stylists as well as coordinating post-production retouching. Take a look behind the scenes to see how we pulled it all together. And check back soon for the final images!
First stop, the casting couch. Michele saw over 150 models to fill just 4 slots. It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it ;)
Each model was asked to use their imagination and walk across a 'tightrope'. Some pictured molten lava beneath their feet, others a vast canyon. What would you picture to get into character?
Load-in time. The crew showed up bright and early to prep the set, from lighting to wardrobe (and a pair of nameless shoes).
Why is the sky blue, you ask? We're not sure, but our wardrobe wears it well!
Anchor Artistâs Kathleen Schiffmann gives our littlest model some powder before she takes the stage.
All hands on deck. It's time to kick this shoot into gear!
Stylist Rina and Assistant Producer, Matthew showing some Blue Steel realness on set...whoops that didn't last too long!
Quiet on the set! Photographer Heather checks her framing while model John waits for some notes.
And with a little help of photo magic (digital compositing), we were able to drop our models high in the sky. Hey Erik, don't look down!
That's a wrap! Thanks to our amazing team of creatives who made it all possible.

Cobb Hill Spring 2015
MDP was hired to produce the Cobb Hill SP15 Collection. The challenge? To shoot spring designs that pair high style with down-to-earth comfort...in the fall. We hired the photographer and videographer, scouted and booked all locations (including a sailboat), cast talent, hired the crew/stylists and oversaw every aspect of this fun-filled, brightly colored production. Stay tuned for a behind the scenes look at how we puled it all together!

ESPN Magazine
In 2011, ESPN Magazine editor, Nancy Weisman, hired Michele Doucette to produce a project with the Boston Bruins.
MDP was hired to scout and lock-down the playerâs favorite hangouts. Our crew then traveled around the city for 2 days photographing and interviewing them hanging in their choice spots...including Boston Barber, several restaurants in the North End, The Barking Crab and the Back Bay.
Featured players: Andrew Ference, Milan Lucic, Tim Thomas, Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Shawn Thorton.

Happy Holidays from M Doucette Production
Our industry friends challenged us to create a wreath that wows. The result? A fun, festive and very merry holiday arrangement.
It really is the most wonderful time of the year! And MDP wanted to do something special to commemorate this joyous season. So when an old friend posted a 'horse wreath' to our producer, Michele Doucette's Facebook page, we knew we found the perfect projectâall we needed were the creatives to pull it off!
OUR CHRISTMAS CREW
Darcy Hammer, Floral Designer & Visual Stylist Asking Darcy to style this shoot was a no-brainer. She's a master carpenter with a graduate degree in sculpture and a passion for nature. For business inquiries, contact her agency Anchor Artists or visit her website: Le RĂȘve Floral Design and Event Styling.
Glenn Scott, Photographer Located on Boston's North Shore, Glenn specializes in commercial projects for advertising, catalog, and publishing. He's no stranger to MDP, in fact we've been working with Glenn for yearsâand it was his brilliant idea to document the wreath making process using stop motion photography. Be sure to check out his other work here!
Matthew Eriksen, Creative Direction An advertising student with a passion for brand building and a love of theatrics. Matthew's involvement with MDP stretches from on-set production coordination to crafting online campaigns.
THE SHOOT
It all started with a wooden frame, a few wires and an equine shape.
Glenn back-lit the wreath in order to highlight each step of the production process. Kudos to Darcy to the stellar carpentry work!
Before getting started, Darcy shared her style notes with our producer, Michele.
With so many fresh firs and ferns, the aroma of evergreen took over the studioâit smelled just like a Yankee Candle (and we weren't complaining)!
1, 2, 3...action! Darcy and Glenn team up for the first shot.
Over 2 hours was spent on prepping and styling our wreath; we made sure no piece was out of place and that our horse would hold its shape.
A stepladder, some strobe lights and photographer 10 feet in the air...what could go wrong?! Absolutely nothing. The aerial perspective Glenn achieved in each shot lent perfectly to the final product.
What makes a good holiday wreath? Is it the materials? It's shape? The decorations? We asked our savvy stylist to give her two cents.
Darcy: All of the above. It has to be fantastical. That's what wreaths are all about, right? There's something mystical about the feeling he holidays bring over us; a suspension of disbelief. Whether the wreath is light and delicate, or lush and fullâit's all about telling a good story. I prefer lots of textures in the material combinations I choose and love to play around with the shape. Sometimes the structure of the wreath plays the main role, and others, it's in the detail. I am a HUGE fan of unconventional add-ons. How about some vintage silverware or natural finds from the beach...maybe even some home-made cable-knit ornaments? Whatever you choose, choose from the heart.
We brought in the best and the brightest lights to add that extra twinkle. And thanks to assistant stylist, Jessica (Anchor Artists) the scrim was silky smooth and wrinkle-free.
A reclaimed, textured window became the perfect portal to hang our Christmas creation. But remember, wreaths don't just have live outside. You can bring them into your home to spruce up any space.
Our wreath was hung by Darcy with care, in hopes that help soon would be there.
Away to the window our team flew like a flash and tied it all up so our wreath would not crash.
When, what to our wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature horse, full of light and good cheer.
But it wasn't yet finished, our team gave a whistle, and away the snow fell like the down of a thistle.
Then the corks were popped, âere our wreath was a sight...
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Friendsgiving: 8 Things You Need to Know
As we reflect on the past year, and those we are most thankful for, we kept on coming back to a very important group; our friends. And this Friendsgiving crafted by Lauren Wells, Caroline OâDonnell and Jen Beauchesne along with images by MDP photographer, Jessica Weiser, is the perfect inspiration.
1. Set the tableâremember, less is more
TIP: Keep your design simple; make it warm and relaxed. For example, salvaged wood became our dining table, and we pulled whatever chairs were around for seating. Intimate candle light with a runner made of fall greenery is a perfect seasonal touch. And with place settings of white china, gray linen and flatware, you can have a perfectly rustic table scape.
2. Get the gang together
3. Prepare and serve the appetizers
TIP: Nothing quite says 'yum' like a board full of chesse, meats and olives. This is a staple in our house and will surely become one in yours, too. Just throw the fullest of flavors together with some toasted baguette slices and you're set. And if your the host(ess) with the most(ess), carry the board around to friends and family so that you get a chance to mix and mingle with your guestsâand snag the best bits for yourself.
4. Give thanks to your loved ones
5. Share stories, relive memories and make new ones too!
6. Break out the sweets (we're fans of the Chocolate Pretzel Tart)
7. And then s'more!
8. Relax, cuddle up and let the good times roll!

M Doucette Production welcomes Len Rubenstein!
A passionate creative with a style all his own, Lenâs work allows him to live in other peopleâs worlds, be it for five minutes, a day or even a week. Some are newborns, others cadavers; Some live in amazing homes, while others live on the streets; One might be the richest man in the world, another the richest in friends and family.
But no matter the subject, they all have a story to tellâand Len is thankful for the opportunity to capture them all. When heâs not behind the camera youâll find him twenty miles South of Boston, along the coast of Scituate, an Irish sea-town where the locals know him as OâRubenstein.
Those interested in working with Len should visit his portfolio and contact our producer at [email protected]
Partly Cloudy with a Chance of Godsmack
Sure, the weather might have lacked spring spirit, but todayâs forecast was a true godsend for our team. After all, they donât call clouds ânatureâs softboxâ for nothing. In fact, the sky became our very own diffuser; one that allowed photographer, Chapman Baehler, to snag some stellar shots of the band and Boston.
The band. Known for their high-energy performances and killer vocals, Godsmack is a hard rock band thatâs been nominated for four Grammys, toured with Ozzfest and has a fan following whose dedication is thicker than blood. But did you know they were formed in Lawrence, Massachusetts back in 1995? Yup, we had a group of Boston boys on our hands. And donât be fooled, these local lads pack some serious punch and have risen way beyond the hometown charts with three consecutive number-one albums, a handful of top ten radio hits and over 20 million records sold in just over a decade. Needless to say that when it came time to photograph this iconic group, our team had no worries about their ability to strike the perfect poseâor chord for that matter!
Godsmack: Sully Erna, Robbie Merrill, Tony Rombola, Shannon Larkin
What we did. Paige Dorian sure knows a thing or two about producing successful shoots. As a West Coast producer, sheâs worked with artists like Evanescence, Daughtry and even Carly Rae Jepsen. So when she hired MDP to source locations and manage on-set logistics for Godsmackâs Beantown shoot, our producer Michele couldnât have been more excited to get the ball rolling. The group wanted their new album cover to scream âBostonâ, so we went to work to find the best places and spaces to represent our beloved city and their creative vision (as if we needed another excuse to rent a super-cool motor home)!
Where it went down. The day began with a meet-up at Castle Island. There, we assembled our team of stylists, technicians and assistants, before heading out with the boys to our three shooting locations: Paul Revere Park, a city rooftop, and some edgy alleys in Southie.
Fan-girl frenzy. Okay, so maybe there weren't any screaming fan-girls to be seen, but that didn't stop our police detail from snapping a pic with the band. Who knew Boston's finest were such hard-rock fans?

Sports Illustrated is Boston Strong
On April 12th 2014, over 3,000 supporters, survivors, EMTs, firefighters, police officers and city-workers (including Mayor Walsh) came together to be a part of a momentous production for Sports Illustrated (SI) and the Boston community.
Cover image.
Inside spread.
M Doucette Production helped gather over 3,000 proud and resilient Bostonians to participate in the Sports Illustrated cover to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing.
Photographer, Gregory Heisler was hired by SI to shoot the cover of an upcoming issue that will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. After previously working with Gregory on a book cover for Jeff Bauman, MDP knew this production would be a match made in heaven.
Not only did the cover mark a milestone for the magazine but also stands as a reminder to how well the city of Boston can overcome any obstacle through perseverance, support and above all, strength.
It was great to see Carlos Arredondo, one of Boston's many heroes, take a selfie with his fellow supportersâsuch kindred spirit as this was present all day long and only grew throughout the day.

Cameron Diaz for SELF Magazine
Back in October, SELF Magazine hired M Doucette Production to produce a shoot for their February 2014 issue. After months of waiting, the photos and magazine are officially released and now we want to take you behind the scenes for an exclusive look into how we pulled it all off!
Cameron was so great to work with; her positive energy, beautiful personality and infectious smile kept us in great spirits all day long. It's hard to imagine this shoot took place during a breezy, New England day!
The shots can also be seen at SELF.com along with Cameron's exclusive stay healthy tips and her secrets to being fit, fun and happy! And now that you've seen the final photos, it's time to show you how it was produced:
STEP ONE: Secure a Gorgeous Coastal Location For our producer, Michele, finding the perfect location is the first step towards a great final product. After hunting down just the right spot, it was up to the crew to bring the set to life. Our team cleared out furniture, laid down our props and set up a flat to get the day started. Michele even woke up with the birds to get this shotâcan you guess which beachfront town we were in?
STEP TWO: Contract an Organic Catering Company Breakfast anyone? A heartfelt thank you is in order for the folks at CHIVE for truly going above and beyond all of our expectations. Our breakfast began with tall glasses of fresh ginger and apple juice, continued by some simply scrambled local eggs with leeks, paired with smoked salmon and roasted pepper frittatas. The entire team at SELF could not speak higher to the quality and service they provided. Kudos to Chive's owner/designer, Jen for her dedication and hard work!
STEP THREE: Coordinate with a Team of Creatives How lucky were we to snag a location with such gorgeous lighting? Our renowned lifestyle/fashion photographer, Dewey Nicks (upper, far left) said it was the BEST natural light studio he ever shot in...we didn't remind him it was a house! SELF Magazine Creative Director, Cynthia Searight (seated, bottom right) took a quick break before we headed outside to take advantage of the beautiful coastline.
Can't forget our booties! Those little blue slippers you see the crew wearing protected our homeowners fabulous floors from any wear and tear. Although it was rather awkward to ask our model to wear brightly colored slippers throughout the shoot, she rocked them like a new pair of Tory Burch flats!
STEP FOUR: Be thankful and Give Shout-outs We would like to thank all the members of our crew and creative team for making this an unforgettable success:
Photographer: Dewey Nicks Creative Director: Cynthia Searight Fashion Director: Evyan Metzner Fashion Director's Assistant: Shea Daspin Photo Assistants: Henry Han, Ryan Hickey, Buck Squibb Digital Tech: Tegan Keller

Behind the Scenes of Stronger: the Jeff Bauman Story
WE'RE BOSTON STRONG, ARE YOU? In honor of our city and those who define our community's strength, we would like to share this photo from a shoot we produced last fall (2013). Renowned portrait photographer, Gregory Heisler contacted us to produce a cover for Jeff Baumanâs new book, STRONGER, which details his experience at the finish line of the 2013 Boston Marathon, the loss of his legs and his inspirational road to recovery.
PRODUCTION INSIGHTS Jeff Bauman, 27, was severely injured at the Boston Marathon bombing on 4/15/13 with both legs amputated. Following his recovery, Jeff's story has compelled many and he has since inspired others to defy obstacles and come out on top. For this project, it was imperative for Michele, our producer, to select a low-key, sensitive crew; creatives who would not make Jeff feel like his new home was being invaded by the paparazzi. Jeff and his fiancé Erin welcomed our small, intimate production team into their home and shared some personal moments with us. His willingness to share his story and the remarkable spirit held throughout the day proves how resilient and strong our Boston community really is.
