How you got started:   In a mom and pop studio in Queens, NY like many baby starlets do. After years of training, dancing commercially for various television networks and artist tours I took a leap into the neo cabaret sector. I had been teaching musical theater and showgirl relevant jazz classes for some time; the impetus was strong to throw on a sparkly costume and do it on stage each night. It wasn’t until after performing many times that I then began supporting the community as a stage kitten and eventually a producer/talent buyer.

Inspirations:  I’m still inspired by Vogue. I love flipping through the pages of foreign issues and building dreams off of the cyclical trends of our fashion icons.

Why you rock the Glitter Stage:  I’m a burlesque performer because it allows me to cast a wide creative net. I get to incorporate all of my passions into one giant cathartic ritual for body appreciation, self acceptance, health, wellness, social justice and more. I am a burlesque performer because reclaiming my body on stage as a person of color is my personal brand of activism. Making a living off of my talent and skill, against all odds, is my personal brand of activism.

Favorite Moment:   My favorite moment has to be successfully facilitating my first event as a producer and stage manager where I actually had the budget to support my creative family, where I actually had the audience (over 5k people) to support our message, and where I actually had the bandwidth to celebrate it in the moment! Also…Obama showed up. No big deal.
