Hi! I'm @cancan-jpg , and I'm interested in preserving the history of DIY media!
That's why I'm putting together this blog - an informal collection of My Chemical Romance fanzines, past and current, physical and digital, free and paid, to document this fandom's history of creation and collaboration!
Currently, this mostly involves reblogging info posts to document each one that exists, or general posts about MCR zines - both those already published, and those seeking submissions. For now, I'll be focusing on collaborative zines in order to stay comprehensive, though I hope to branch out to single-person zines in future!
If there's info about MCR zines out there that I haven't posted yet, feel free to hit my inbox and share!
Anya is live and ready to show you everything. Watch her strip, dance, and perform exclusive shows just for you. Interact in real-time and make your fantasies come true.

This is a mini zine I made to hand out for the mcr tampa show a couple of weeks ago. However, today is the anniversary of my first time seeing mcr live for the first time and my first time going to any concert. I saw them live at the fla live arena in sunrise, florida in 2022. This band is very special to me alongside this community so I wanted to share this here as well. As I've said before,
Ideas live forever in the earth and the collective psyche! It is alive! LONG LIVE THE ORGANISM!
Welcome to @mcrzines , a blog database aiming to collect the history of My Chemical Romance Fanzines!
Normally, this involves finding and reblogging posts documenting what zines have existed, are still on sale for you to collect right now (!!), or zines that are currently seeking artists and writers! However, not all zines have a Tumblr presence; thus, NOTES FROM THE ARCHIVES is where I'll document zines found on other platforms, or maybe even post other notes from time to time!
This one is a new contender for oldest collaborative zine featured in this archive! Another thanks to @sobqjmv for sending this my way!
We Will Carry on is a collaborative zine project created (and later abandoned) in 2007. It was full-size, black and white, and intended to be a monthly publication (an anomaly among this kind of project these days! We mostly understandably stick to once-off or perhaps themed publications every few years or so in a fandom like this).
Most information can be found on their LiveJournal. Something I find quite charming in reading their first post is the entire segment explaining/linking a definition of what zines are - some things never change.
It's of note that they know no examples of previous collaborative zines. This might speak to a pioneering spirit, or the decentralised nature of the early internet hiding earlier zines. On a personal note, I ran a collaborative zine in 2017, and myself and all contributors also had no recollection of previous examples - who knows how many hidden ones are out there?
You can see a lot of excitement in the first posts of the primary moderator, Mal, announcing their very first artist to submit (to incentivize more people to submit work) and asking around for popular MCR fansites to promote the zine on. Asking for people to contribute layouts and banners.
The Livejournal could act as a communal space for people to make comments asking for collaborators on things like comics. There's an open dialogue of what folks wanted in the zine, and the moderator updating viewers on that (e.g. firstly a No Fiction Works stance, before accepting fanfiction on the condition of no real person shipping.
Like with a scroll through the BLASTA! contributors' internet presence, there's very much an earnest-ness to 2000s/early 2010s fandom culture that really shines through here in folks' interactions.
And maybe a few privacy concerns. Once again, pre-Big Cartel/Gumroad world....
Unfortunately, their final post from one of their secondary moderators thanks folks for their patience with the first issue of the zine, and notes nothing more for their planned second issue. I can find no images of the zine itself - it's difficult to find evidence of customers and contributors ever receiving copies. I like to hope that they did.
Being created in early-to-mid 2007, this zine is really contemporaneous with the release of The Black Parade just a few months prior in 2006. This was a huge moment of international growth in this fandom, for an album that would be certified platinum.
Regardless of where the zine went, the ethos of a project like this can be best summarised in Mallory's first post: "I feel like the zine will also bring more fans together because through it, we'll have another place to communicate our art, our stories and our emotions. [...] Above all, I want to put something together that we can all be proud of, I want all the fans, even if they didn't contribute to look at these pages and feel something."
Which is always the reason we make any zine, really.
Do you own a copy of the WE WILL CARRY O! zine? Did you contribute? Tell us about it! We'd love to know more about this project!
Know about any MCR zines this blog hasn't posted about yet? Drop us a line in our ask submissions or messages!

This summer we have not one but TWO fanzines we're proud to be hosting! The Story Ain't Over and @dangerdaysbigbang !
First, if you're a fan of indie animation and haven't heard of it before, consider checking out the Metal Family series! Ringostein did an amazing job as the head organizer, graphic designer, zine editor, interview designer, and interview artist and GhostShark Press is incredibly proud to bring it to print! I hadn't previously heard of the series, but I went in to check it out since they reached out to us and I would recommend spending an evening watching it- then following that up by checking out this book!
If you enjoyed our previous My Chemical Romance project, The Venom, but found yourself wishing for more written material, V Formation: A Danger Days Collaborative Anthology is the Killjoys-verse book for you! It's a huge, beefy, and very limited printing of more than 300 pages of work directed by @ravenxbones ! It also boasts a truly impressive line of fan merchandise, so if you're a My Chemical Romance fan to any degree you should check it out right away- it was initially supposed to have preorders end yesterday, but we've extended them to May 17!
I made a new zine! GERARD TWEETS is a selection of some of my favorite tweets from Gerard's weird girl Twitter era, covering such themes as Lotion, Aliens, and Haunted Objects.
Dm to buy or trade! Special thanks to @gerardtweets
Edit: if anyone is short on funds and wants a free digital copy just dm me! <3
Delighted to note there appears to now be a Fanlore Page for more archival information! :D Particularly love seeing Merlin's thoughts on internet archiving in there :')
Aaaaand we're LIVE! SWARM zine & merch back stock is now on sale at our BigCartel shop. We have very limited quantities of some items, but we do have at least a few of every merch item for sale! There are only 150 copies of the SWARM zine left–grab yours before they sell out!
We know our accounts were a little slow to respond during our hiatus, but we're back in business now. If you have questions about your order or issues, let us know. Please note that some shipping fees have increased slightly due to an overall increase in USPS shipping costs.

Hello. I am celebrating the holidays and upcoming end of year with a quick 14 page downloadable zine. There is a psd, pdf and tiff files featuring the lineart of some things I've posted over the last few years.
Anyone is free to take, colour, use and remix these into whatever they like. Tag me or don't. Bon appetit!
