“They didn’t even teach you how to read?” Ronnie asked, a little shocked to hear it, “That’s pretty admirable. I’m sure your friends are really proud of you and you’re proud of yourself. If you’re not, you should be.”

“The facility only taught us how to fight and kill, but reading wasn’t one of their priorities.” Mickie shrugged. “I’m sure Harper’s the most proud, he’s the guy who found me. I am pretty proud of myself, and thanks that’s really sweet of you to say.”

“Then you should definitely model for me, any way you like and I’ll keep it to myself, and don’t worry I will return the favor no problem, but you’re going to have to map out everything with your hands.” Mickie smiled. 

“You’re still a hardass, but you’re my hard ass and I wouldn’t change a thing.” The guy smiled, before kissing Harper’s forehead.

“Blue works, kind of goes with the whole lightning and electricity vibes also- though I hardly think I’m the type of guy who can pull of anything, I’m not the most fashion forward after all.” He tended to just go for what was comfortable and what looked semi decent, there was very few times in which he actually tried to make an effort. “Harry Potter- without a doubt. It has the best music and Hedwig’s theme will never fail to make me tear up a little.” He confessed, because he would much rather listen to cinematic pieces, despite being a fan of music and performing himself. Pop music was fun, but the scores were where all the emotion lies. “I think I do that because I have no filter and don’t know when to stop to be honest, but I’m not sure that counts as bravery- not in my eyes anyways. I think I’ve still got quite a few hero lessons to learn before I become brave.” Sam let out a snort at the others reference, “I like that- and you’d look good as Princess Peach, you can definitely pull off a pink ballgown.” He teased lightly- “I think a lot of people here want to get their hands on a hero to design their first look, especially if it would then become iconic.”

“Samuel, have I ever told you that you’re absolutely gorgeous? Because I keep hearing this and that about not being able to pull of something’s, and well I look at you and think you’re crazy because you’re like a 15 out of 10 in the hotness chart for me. Maybe I’m just biased I guess. I’m not very fashion forward either, but I’d like to think I don’t look like a total mess, and you’ve got the whole geeky hot guy thing going for you. Probably has a lot of people swooning left and right, and I can vouch that it does work.” Mickie giggled. “I love Harry Potter, but well it’s only been a few years since I read the books actually, they used those to help teach me how to read when I got here, so it’s got a special place in my heart. I think I’d be a Ravenclaw, and I want to go to the Harry Potter world at Universal studios. Buy my first wand and robe. I love Luna Lovegood, and well I don’t consider the cursed child at all to be part of the books, it’s just a whole mess right there. Sam, can I cast alohomora to you heart so I can slytherin?” Mickie smiled, a bit proud of his line that he’d been working on ever since he read the books. “Not being afraid to be yourself is bravery, just because it isn’t jumping in front of danger doesn’t mean it’s not as courageous. A lot of people hide behind masks, but not you. you’re a total hero, babe.” he mused. “Just make sure you’re able to carry me back home and not let mebe kidnapped again. You in red and blue would look good, maybe we should make that our Halloween costumes for this year, if you’ll be my date and go get some candy with me that is.” he laughed. “Now every time I see you I’ll just hear that damn coin collecting noise from Mario. Well, I’m a sidekick, but only because they don’t want me to be a hero first.”

“Maybe I should quit teaching and become a model then.” Harper teased. He chuckled to himself. “I usually say keep your hands to yourself but I wouldn;t mind yours touching me.” 

“Damn, I thought I waas good at hiding my emotions.” Harper mused. “I’m flattered you still wanted to lean on despite almost cloaking the city into darkness,” Harper looked at Mickie. “Believe me, I would have thought that was a turn off.” He smiled. “It could be worse, imagine if you had x-ray vision or something.” Harper winked. “Cutie.” Harper said raising his eyebrow. 

Harper giggled int the kiss before he pulled away. “I’ll keep doing that-” Harper replied before biting hard against the other’s lips. He briefly pulled away before latching lips against Mickie’s ears. “What can we do in the time allowed?” Harper cooed playing with Mickie’s hair. “Is it too soon to want to fuck?”

“Only if you model a few things for me first,” Mickie shot back, pleased with his reply. “I mean I wouldn’t mind that at all, and feel free to use yours on me as well, babe.” he grinned. 

“Sorry, you kind of failed, having me super close to you and all. I remember kissing your cheek once I was rescued, that wasn’t something I was expecting to do.” Mickie giggled. “I’ve always found your darkness rather welcoming really.” he mused. “Oh really now, I mean yeah I guess, but nothing beats dick for fingers.” he giggled. “Stop,” Mickie blushed.

“Perfect,” The boy smiled before feeling Harper’s teeth sink into his lip slightly, before he heard his words. “Eight years is too soon?” Mickie said shaking his head as he held Harper closer. “I want to, with you.” the boy said softly as he brought their lips together once more. “Just one request.”

“I can imagine,” Ronnie said softly, “At least you got to help shut a lot of them down. I’m sure that was satisfying in some way and it’s an impressive backstory no matter how intense and sounds like good motivation to do good too.”

“Got a lot of kids out of those things, and it wasn’t surprising that many of them didn’t want to be superheroes. I think the most intense part was having to read at age eighteen and making sure I didn’t look stupid in front of people my age. That was a wild time, but I had friends who helped me along the way, so I’m grateful.”

“It kind of does i suppose, but i think rather than thinking there should be an age restriction for it, you should think about it as just a rank.” she shrugged her shoulders as she glanced at the other. “At least you might finish with a cool partner”

“Yeah but that rank makes you seem puny and I am not puny. That Rory kid is puny, he’s like 5′3 or something.” he smirked. “I might. but I’m hoping I get stuck with someone whom my powers can have good synergy with.”

Kiara couldn’t help but snort, “Sounds like one hell of a workout.”

“Best kind of workout you can get honestly,” he smiled. “Helps with the calves and stuff.”

“France? That surprises me a little. Would have thought it was America considering the stereotype.”

“It’s literally a wine and fries kind of country. I think Americans are more bacon and cheese, and fast food chains.”

“I doubt you are far from a disaster or a tragedy,” Max reassured the other optimistically. “But introducing a little more music into your life definitely wouldn’t hurt. Unless it’s not your thing, which I can respect too. A little confused by it, but would still respect it.”

“Oof, you’re in for a storm honey.” Mickie drawled teasingly. “Well I wouldn’t know where to start really since where I grew up there wasn’t any sort of music, wasn’t allowed really. Not saying it’s not my thing, just not something I’m entirely used to.”

“Thank you, it’s hard to tell you know.” Harper said feeling his cheeks burn. “You still have to chew the cherry, inhaling it doesn’t work.” Harper let himself laugh. “I know you don’t but don’t downplay yourself either.” Harper smiled. “You’re amazing when you’re yourself.” 

“Which is why I didn’t want to pounce right away.” Harper sighed. “When I first got the mission, I didn’t read the file-It wasn’t in braille and I don’t believe in emotional investment before a fight.” Harper paused. “I thought you were handsome but your state- I felt every little scar and every tremble from your body. I wanted to curse everyone out at that facility. But I settled with just a guard and knocking the rest out. ”  Harper gave a small smile. “But your presence was the most normal thing in my life. Even if both of us are superpowered idiots in over our heads. In a sense I think it’s good we didn’t talk about it right away. We both needed a friend through this time.” Harper smirked. “Only if you want it cutie.” 

“You’re right, life is too short. But that must be a record-eight years.” Harper said leaning forward. “Don’t complain if I miss your lips the first time,” Harper said before pressing his lips against the others. 

“Is it? Because from where I’m standing you’ve always been dropped dead gorgeous.” Mickie mused. “Shut up, I didn’t know the cherry was in that bite, I wasn’t looking.” The guy giggled as he felt himself warm up. “Pretty hard to do that, but for you I’ll try. You’re making it really hard for me to keep my hands to myself.”

“You should’ve, I would’ve been yours already.” Mickie stated. “Harper, you did good, but you still got heavily invested.” he teased. “I thought you were beautiful, and I could tell that from the moment you saw me that you cared. You were angry and protective of me from the very beginning, and well I couldn’t help but lean on you a little but.” the man admitted as he felt his heart skip a beat. “Super powered idiots, whoever let us have powers clearly wasn’t in their right mind.” he giggled, as he felt himself grow entirely more fond of Harper, and that was an impossible feat as he already loved and adored the man with every ounce of his being. “We did, and well I do. Keep calling me cutie and see what it does to me.” he blushed.

Smiling into the kiss, he pulled Harper closer, putting his hands around his neck as he kissed back. Forgetting about his need to breathe as he deepened the kiss entirely,  “Harper,” he mumbled before kissing him again. “That...Keep doing that. Well, what else would you like to try out,” he said whispering in the other’s ear.

“I was trying to bring back the mullet in 2001, you don’t have to flatter me. Though I’m glad I’ve grown into the baby face.” Harper deadpanned. He rolled his eyes. “It was those sundae cherries though, all you have to do is chew!” He chuckled to himself. “I know I’m the best around and you’re the second best by association.” He teased. It was nice for a change to be flattered and he enjoyed Mickie’s company. Harper couldn’t help but take note of Samuel and his attritubutes. “Sounds like your type.” Harper blurted out.He took pause at the sentence.

 “I have thought about it but I was afraid it might be taking advantage of you.” Harper gave a sad smile. “I’m also the first person you saw from the facility so I wasn’t sure if it would too soon-even after eight years.” He took a deep breath. “But I was also processing a relationship I was in at the time which was very tumultous at best and distant at worst.” Harper looked at Mickie. His personal relationships weren’t something he talked about often even with the other. “After not seeing them for a while,  I had come to terms with the love we had wasn’t normal, even at that age.”That’s the most Harper can tell Mickie. He sighed. “And what we have felt so normal and happy. I’ve seen you grow and I have never been so proud to hear you speak with others.” He gave a small smile. “So maybe that’s why I didn’t pursue it.” He blushed. “Besides in comparion to Samuel I have prescription sunglasses, a six on a good day, a scene kid turned teacher, a hardass, a scowl that can kill, and three shades close to translucent. Also makes tentacles from darkness and other peoples Shadows-like that one.” Harper said reaching for Mickie’s shadow. He leaned in and straighten the shadow to its normal form. “You have a strong shadow and I hate when I bend it.” Harper admitted. 

 “But with that said would you want to pursue something with me?” He blushed.”Because what If I said I want to try?.” 

“I don’t know who I should be thanking for that to have never come back. Still, you’re gorgeous Harper, you’re one of the most beautiful men I’ve ever met.” Mickie said, a blush covering his cheeks before his features gained a frown. “Well, I didn’t really chew my sundae because it’s ice cream.” he huffed. “Oh, second best by association then, wow what an honor.” he giggled. “You’re truly amazing Harper, I’ll never get tired of telling you.” At the mention of Samuel his heart stopped and his brain short circuited. “Yeah, he definitely is.” he mused.

“Harper,” it was all a lot to process hearing everything the man had just confessed, and it made his heart swell up and he found himself unbelievably happy. “You would’ve never been taking advantage of me, and yes you were the first person I ever saw, but even then I found you beautiful. Eight years you’ve had this with you and you didn’t say anything, we grew into men together. I understand, I really do. The first time I ever felt love was revealed to be nothing but a scheme in a greater plot which I wasn’t even considered a worthy pawn. Nothing about me is normal either, nothing about us is normal, but that’s good. We’re not normal, cause we’re two idiots that have been liking each other for eight years and have never even spoken about it. We are happy, very happy. Harper,” he was being left speechless again, inching closer to the male little by little, wanting to close the gap between them. “You should’ve” he mused. “You and Samuel are very different, but I like different guys for different reasons, and I like you for different things, I’ve liked you for a lot more.” he said. “Much rather bend me over, huh?” he said finally trying to break some of the awkward tension.

“I want to give it a shot Harper, we can’t really waste time here. Eight years is far too long, and I...I’ve wanted you for a long time. So, do you want to kiss me?”

“All that at an age I still have bad hair and braces.” Harper teased. “Really? Were you not the one who said F*ck cherries at the diner two weeks ago?” Harper gave a bigger smile. “Of course, that’s what I’m here for. “ He replied softly. Harper didn’t realize how much of an impact he had on Mickie..Harper instead briefly focused on the name. “Samuel? That name is very common but doesn’t ring any bells. How are you so sure?” Harper tilted his head confused. “What do you mean?” Harper asked. There was a pause. His heart lurched inside his chest. Harper wasn’t sure why his sense were reacting this way.  “How am I a what if in your life?”

“I thought you looked cute back then, and well you’ve certainly grown more into your looks.” Mickie assured. “Fuck yeah it was me because I almost choked on one. Stupid fucking red ball of death.” he giggled. “Yeah, you’re truly the best, Harper.” he grinned. Mickie could always find himself silently thanking Harper for all the things that he’s done for him over the years, and he never wanted his times with the other to stop. “Samuel, he’s got glasses, gorgeous, nerdy, rambles a lot, great boy, amazing smile, kind of tan. He’s got electric powers.” Mickie said going on and on about his crush on Sam. “Harper have you never thought about what would happen of we ever took that leap, and decided to explore the territory that goes beyond just being best friends? I have, I have a lot of times. You were my first crush since I got out of the facility.”
