the whole “he’s in too many games” thing is so weird to me because not counting remakes, he’s literally only been in 3 canon games. resident evil 2, resident evil 4, resident evil 6, and four, technically, if we count dark side chronicles. even jill, despite how dirty she’s been done by capcom in recent years, has more game appearances than he does. it’s just kinda crazy to me because i rarely see these same complaints leveled at chris, despite him having nearly 10 canon game appearances (not counting remakes). i’ve even seen ppl say he should be in re9 because of his connection to raccoon city. the next person after him with the most isn’t even leon, its jill, and there’s a gap between her and chris. like chris is the real problem if we’re gonna complain about characters having too many appearances.

the only reason it feels like there’s an overexposure is bc 1) the remakes of 2 and 4 being released in the last 6 years, and 2) he’s been in all 4 of the canon cgi movies and had infinite darkness, but it’s not far fetched to say a lot of ppl aren’t tuning into those unless they’re really into the lore of the game, and know they exist and are canon, which is probably like maybe half of the player base if we’re being generous. and all his appearances combined still don’t beat out chris’ appearances combined.

and like, i fully understand why she doesn’t tell adrien about his dad. i know she made a promise to gabriel, who was definitely using her vulnerability to his advantage, and that she’s probably scared of what would happen if the truth came out, but she is also very wrong for not allowing adrien the choice of whether he wants to know the truth. this is not her secret to keep. she does not get to decide what he should know about his own family. that choice is his and only his, not even his dead father’s. he should not still have the opportunity to control his son’s life from behind the grave.

and ppl keep saying oh it could cause chat blanc she can’t tell him, but her lying to him about it and him eventually finding out could also cause chat blanc. the reveal of his father being hawkmoth was sprung onto adrien in a moment of battle, but that wasn’t the root cause of chat blanc. it was revelation of his mother, and gabriel’s true intentions with the two miraculous and marinette’s warning that the wish will have a price if made. all of this was thrust upon him with no warning, and no time for him to process what was happening, and that could very well happen again if this information is sprung on him in a similar way.

there is nothing that suggests if marinette asked him if he wanted to know the truth, and warning him what knowing the truth would entail, would lead to chat blanc. the two situations are so different from each other that we cannot assume that the same events would occur. but i can’t imagine that when adrien eventually finds out marinette was lying to him all this time about the truth, it will lead to anything good either. especially if it’s someone who isn’t marinette who tells him.

the truth can hurt, and will hurt no matter what, but the best way to prevent anything bad from happening, is to allow him to choose if he wants to know the truth. and he might not! and that’s okay, too, but it would be his decision and that’s what this all comes down to. because there may not be any good outcome to this situation, but the best outcome is the one where adrien is given the choice to decide if he wants to know or not.
